Bragging, I know. I learned a lot, as always, but more importantly, we had a nice time.

In case you are wondering what your ER should look like:

Was that a portable Honda Generator I saw back there against the hull???

You do know that a super clean ER is a sign of a sick mind (Grin)

That's great John. I've envied Frank and his beautiful boat - what a great ER! I'll strive for an ER like that!

Frank - you have been a wealth of knowledge - thanks for sharing with all of us.

That engine room is immaculate. How many engine rooms on a 14 year old 450DA will look like that? :wow: Probably none.

One of these days I will get to meet Frank. He has helped me immensely thru the years both on SRO and CSR.

See Frank’s sea cock? See the other one? And the one after that? And the one after that?

What is the plural name for sea cock?

Sea Cocki?

John,

I enjoyed the visit and am glad you stopped by and caught me.

I just wish it had been a day later, since your visit came just as I was getting ready to tough up the engine paint. Little did I know that you have had a digital camera surgically implanted so it goes with you every where you go.

You know..........I should have returned the favor and taken a photo of you teetering on the top of the 12' ladder hanging on with one hand and driving a buffer with the other in your effort to make blue gelcoat look new again.

Frank, That engine rooms looks really good. I really appreciate your kindness and patience so much. Thanks for all your help, JC, Jackie and the family
BTW, Did you find the guys you were looking for in South Florida?

JC,

Yes we did........used both for the surveys which were done simultaneously, and we really appreciate your help.

Dan was top notch, but the hull guy sort of let us down. He lost all his photos while transfering them to his computer and then cost us some time by not using the right email address for the buyer. The deal is going thru, but we had to listen to the broker ***** about how long it took us to get the survey back and the buyer has yet to deal with his insurance company re: no photos with the C&V survey.

Nice wood grain on that storage box...that would've been a crime to paint it. There aint any kitty litter under those Cats

Frank, Not to hijack, but.....

Touchup painting the Cat's is on my spring time list of things to do. I boat in a fresh water climate, so it's not as big a deal. But I have had the paint now for a year and figure I better go ahead and do it. How do you suggest I prep the existing paint to take the new. Mine is mostly chips, no real corrosion persay.

2nd, what do you use to paint over the stains in the ER that just won't clean off. I'm talking the gray bilge coating. What do you use to do it and again how do you best prep the area for painting over it?

Just want mine to look like yours!

Randy,

You handle the engine paint just like any other metal piece with rust/scale on it....sand it clean, neutralize the rust, prime with a rust inhibiting primer and shoot the top coat. I use an automotive enamel color matched to the Cat color.

I don't cover anything up. If it gets dirty, I wash it. The gray color is a gelcoat so it cleans up just like any other part of the boat. The trick, if there is one, is knowing what removes what stain.

Very nice ER Frank. Looks like there's space for crew quarters. I bet it's a pleasure servicing your boat with such an easy access to everything. You should hide these pictures from 320 owners, LOL...just kidding.

These pictures of Frank's ER should appear in Webster's next to the word Bristol.
