Well I checked the hole in the outdrive and even pulled the hose off the speedometer and blew thru it and bubbles came out the outdrive. At this point Im guessing the speedometer itself is bad but would like to know if anyone has any other ideas or suggestions.

Did you use a small drill bit in the hole on the outdrive? Just in case there is a small piece of wood in there blocking the hole. You use the bit without the drill. Just twist a litte by hand.

I am having the same issue with my 260 SunDeck. Where exactly is the hole in the outdrive? I vaguely remeber being told to clear a hole in the outdrive if the speedometer was having issues. A picture would be most helpful or a detailed description.

thanks

Sometimes when the drive is trimmed down it will pinch the speedo tube. Trim the drive out and see if it works at all.

I have tried everything, first I pulled the tube of the outdrive and blew thru the outdrive and air flowed freely to where the tube attaches. Then I pulled the tube off the back or the speedometer and blew thru it and had the outdrive end in a glass of water and there were bubbles. Since I know the tube is clear from the speedo to the outdrive and the outdrive itself is clear I have to assume the speedo is the problem. I'm now trying to find the replacement.

I hooked up an air compressor to the tube at the outdrive to check the speedo. You might try that.

Your boat is an '06. Did you verify that it was turned on in Smartcraft? I don't have my manual handy, but I seem to recall that there is a "paddlewheel" option for the speedo? I think if you turn that on, it turns off the pitot sensor. Mine also has a "speed offset" adjustment in it.

Check your Smartcraft manual.

I think (well I know) mine is doing this. How do I find the "pinched" speedo tube?

Thanks!

What is "Smartcraft"? As far as I can tell there is no paddlewheel anywhere that I can see, only the hole in the outdrive with the tube attached that routes to the back of the speedo. I'm going to try and blow air thru it with my compressor tonight to see if the speedo will move.

Well now I'm really confused, I used compressed air and blew in the pick up on the out drive and the speedometer registered 35 mph. I guess I'll see the next time out if it works?!?!?
