i have a 2005 220 or 240 sundeck. What size speakers can i replace the stock ones with

also can i hook up an amp to the stock clarion deck?

Your speakers are 6 1/2. A lot of people have installed Polk DB 651. I have the Polks, a small amp and a sub-woofer and the sound is greatly improved over the stock. If you have the stock radio there are 2 connections for Amps. I kept the original grills by breaking off the retaining ring from the old speakers. Do a search - there is a lot of informaiton about speaker upgrades.

There's a ton of good reading here on stereo systems. It's one of those things you can spend very little on or the sky is the limit. I don't know what your budget is but I might suggest you start with just adding or replacing your amp. I (dealer) did just that recently & the difference in sound quality was incredible. I still have the stock Clarion head & speakers that came with the boat. Just a thought.

where is the stock amp located? And how much power (amp) should i run to my stock speakers?

I just replace my stock clarion speakers and amp with a 500W amp from JL AUDIO and speakers from JL as well. Easy job - the speakers had the same screw holes. Much better sound.
