Sony LCD remote control

Well a problem with my remote cropped up this weekend. The LCD is not showing all of the time. It will come on and then go off. It still lets me change stations and volume even without the lcd. I checked the wiring and nothing seems to have come loose. It looks like it has a set of plugs close to the remote. Can I just order a new one and replace and plug it in?

Holy thread revival. Just took delivery of a 2007 270 SLX. The only problem (so far) is the remote LCD screen does not work. Like the OP, buttons all work. Found replacements on Amazon. There seems to be two models. Sony RMX60M/L and Sony RMX60M/R. According to Sony they are the same:

Before ordering wondering if there is a setting on the head unit to turn on the remote LCD? I could not find such a setting.

Do you have one or two remotes? The larger of the two cables is the one that illuminates the display. I would unseat the extension cable connector both at the remote and the back of the head-unit, check it for any corrosion and then re-seat. If you have two remotes, there will be a Y cable at the head-unit. Also, one failing remote can effect both, since the share the line.

One remote. I disconnected and reconnected at remote unit. Have not tried at the head unit.

Finally had an opportunity to get to the back of the head unit. Unplugged the remote, cleaned connection and LCD still does not work. Ordered a new one from Amazon. However, the effort was not in vain. Found this
