Something to warm your Cali hearts

Drawing from the drop is dumb ass move against multiple attackers.
Even though it looks like he is wearing a vest.
He nearly got himself killed

Gotta admire the shop keeper's willingness to stand up the these rats. It is considered stupid to defend your inventory as it is just stuff that can be replaced. If more businesses were willing to demonstrate that robbing them will be a huge mistake, gee, maybe the assholes would figure out a different path to get through life.

What kind of a low life are you that your solution to solve your problems is to rob with a gun….. kill them….thin the herd

Completely disagree

Well unfortunately I checked the details of the story and while he survived he suffered gunshot wounds to the head and face.
He did hit one attacker fatally.

One attacker has a gun directly in his face. Even if your draw to first shot is very good (sub 2 seconds) you may get a reflexive return fire right in your face. And his was fast.
And you better also be able to hit first shot. Because now you have three others surrounding you to worry about.
And a solid first shot hit is not as easy as you think, even at close range. And people don't just drop with one shot.
As soon as he draws and fires the attacker standing to his right and behind pulls a gun also and opens fire.

In these situations you feign compliance and evaluate what you're up against. Let them start grabbing things give them the money. Wait until they turn away slightly or at least have there hands full of stuff, distractions. Only then do you draw and fire.

The anchor says the security guard was killed but that's an error.

Again….disagree…. What the defender did was what his instinct told him to do….hindsight is just that… if he stood there and did nothing he could still be dead…you have no idea what you are up against. Die fighting or die not trying….

I agree, they may have tried and killed him regardless.

Looks like he had a visible gun in holster, so the perps likely saw that and pulled the guns anyway. He did the right thing IMO. He had no cover and no where to run and no protection. Really bad design for high risk retail in a very high risk area. Yes he did just about get killed though, maybe under either scenario.

Really, what does the world lose if that whole crew was shot dead on the spot, or rots in prison? Would the world lose future rehabilitated citizens that will contribute more to the world than they took from it? Not worth the chance to find out.

Look I'm not trying to be an ass about this poor guy, but he is a paid security officer in a high risk location.

This is not your home, four guys walk in my house and I'm going to draw regardless if I see a weapon. I'm going to be pointing at them and saying WTF you doing!

This is a place of business. And the bad guy always gets to set the place and time of the attack. They were prepared to a degree, they knew the shop had armed security. He was not prepared. His post should have been between that counter and the wall in front of the doorway to the back. First and foremost his obligation is to protect the employees not the product, not the money, those are secondary. He should have had a plan with the employees. If something sketchy is happening the clerk should go behind him into the back to escape and call 911. There was an employee in the back that was wounded. Do you see any employees in the video? No all that lead flying went right thru the sheet rock wall. None of that is "cover". Cover is something that stops bullets. All he had anywhere was possible "concealment". Somewhere to get out of view of your attacker so you can draw and be ready. He stood behind the counter and let someone get behind him. This is not hindsight this was poor tactics. Luck is not a strategy, he was just lucky. He should have been prepared.

It's been 40 years since my initial training and I still go thru scenarios in my head. My local convenience store I know the clerks and the owner. I could draw the floor plan for you right now. I now where the back rooms are and the exits. It only takes a little bit of attention and thought to have a plan "what if".

It’s okay we are just disagreeing…..which means discussing…all good

Blueone, I find I must disagree with you on this one. Post #2 is the reason why. Shitty odds of being successful in that situation.

Other options have been discussed so I won't go into any more details.

Given our weed stores in NJ it`s bound to happen here where CC is a no no
