Looking for a Favor if anyone with access to soldboats.com data on a 1998 270 DA. A friend of mine called me today that has never owned a boat, just put an offer on one locally. I know it is too late for him as far as the offer goes, but trying get the information for him. The asking prices are all over the board from the low 20s to the low 40s on Boattrader and Yachtworld.

Boat info:

1998 270DA (I think it is the wider 9ft 2in beam)
7.4 Lt
456 hours
Eagle Triaxle Trailer

If more info is needed let me through PM.

Any help would be appreciated.

Also looking a surveryor in the Cincinnati OH area if you have suggestions, but I will start a new thread for that.

Thanks in advance.

I purchased my '98 270 wide in May of '10 in the low $30's from Catawba. After researching the type of boat, I decided the 270 is not worth >$35,000 in very good condition. Absolutely love the boat and the 7.4 has given me no problems over the past year+ (except for bad fuel which was my fault). Your friend will not be disappointed if his purchase works out. Good Luck! -Kevin

What is a 270 worth? There is no absolute "book" value any vessel over 10 years old is worth. I think the mid-later 90's 270 is a perfect example. I would pay more for one of those than I would an early 2000's 260. The value is in the condition and can it be put back to glory? The only way to discover the answer is to look at a good number of boats. I have seen the mid-later 90's 270's that were not worth $15k and some seemed worth over $40k. Then does it have a trailer? Current models of GPS and other electronics? Windlass? Gennie?

Good luck, MM

Bought mine in January 240hours single 7.4bravo 3 a.c. new bimini a.c. no electronics. Cosmetically ok but took a lot of compound and scrubbing to look as it does now. 27k all said and done taxes and dmv included . Love the boat no major problems. Check the bellows gimball bearing universals and trim sensor and limiter and manifold riser and elbows if no record of them being changed recently (3years or so on some of the parts) I would TRY to include them being replaced in the deal. They are all expensive to replace. Best of luck.

Thanks guys for the info. It was very helpful. The boat was in pretty good shape from what I could see. He closed on yesterday. We got him down river into his marina without issues. The deal he got was ok, I think he could have got it a little lower but he was a little over zealous and wanted the deal done. But he is happy and that is what it is about.

What major options were on it and can you share the general price range it sold for? MM

Seems like a fair deal for all. MM

I think it was fair, just thought with a few things the mechanic found, exhaust manifolds will need to be done over the winter, he could have had the seller help out with that. The trailer was included in that price as well so, that helps as well.
