I have a 19 pitch 3 blade, wanting a 4 blade solas amita. What size is appropriate for this motor?

A 14.5 overall diameter would work for you, are you wanting more speed, more low end grunt, or better handling? What are your goals? Prop selection can differ depending on what your goals are.

I am looking for a good hole shot, and a steady speed at around 18-22mph. The prop I have now is a 19 pitch and it slips at around 40mph with the trim half up.

A Merc High Five prop would be an even better option. The main reason you're prop is slipping is because you have the trim up so high - it's ventilating (grabbing air). That will happen with any prop, although the High 5 will likely show a small improvement there. Another very good option is to install either hydraulic trim tabs, or Smart Tabs (if the Smarts are available for your size boat).

Either way, I'm surprised at your top end speed - it should be higher. What is your WOT RPM with just you in it? This is very important to know.

Is the boat bottom clean and the prop in very good condition?

I have the exact same boat as you do with the 7.4L MPI and a 19P Mercury Mirage Plus. Is this the prop you have? With about a 3/4 fuel tank and by myself I can hit 49 MPH WOT on GPS at around 4500 RPM. Hole shot is great with that prop. Operating range for that motor is 4400-4600 RPM.

Here's Merc's prop selector webpage http://www.mercurymarine.com/propellers/prop-selector/# Pick 2000 for Model year on engine and 1.5 Gear Ratio Bravo I

Don't rely on the boats speedometer, they're not accurate. If you have a smartphone you can download an app to show your speed by gps. The first thing you should do is verify your top speed and what the RPM's are at WOT. If you're not in the operating range of 4400-4600 RPMs with that 19P then something ain't right.

Is the prop in good condition?

I am running a Mercury Mirage Plus 19P and have great results with it also. I can run 49 to 54 MPH GPS depending on fuel and people load.
No prop blow out unless I trim it ALL the way up. It usually will start porpoising (spl) before it blows out.
Will the Alpha1 make any difference over the Bravo1 ?
I can't remember the ratios but I know my Bravo 1 is different than my old Alpha 1. Both had 19P props......
