Soft Spots on the deck

Out line the area of the soft spot from the inside of the boat and start cutting the fiberglass from the inside. Once you've exposed the rot you'll have to dig it all out and replace the wood, then replace the fiberglass. It's all very time consuming but it certainly isn't rocket science. There are a number of really good videos on You Tube as well as info on the internet and the West Marine site that will serve to inform you. Also, a good book to buy is Don Casey's "This Old Boat". Rot on the deck is caused from water intrusion from things like stantions and other thru fittings. Make sure you find out where the water is getting in or you'll be doing the same repair over again in the years to come.

Thats BS. You have a 5yo boat that gets used 3 month a year...on weekends...when its not raining. Unless you did something to compromise integrity (ie added cleat etc) i would get after Searay HARD

The good news (I think) on that boat is that only the deck has wood core so it shouldn't go beyond that.

Did you screw anything into the decking or is it all factory stock?

That is a 1999-2002 340.

I've been down this road. Can you be a bit more specific as to the location of the soft spot?
