I noticed on my boat when I purchased it that I had an area on my fwd console that looked like someone had spilled something and it had ate the gel coat... I took some pictures so maybe you guys will have an idea?

What is able to dissolve gel coat like that?

I agree, it looks almost likey tried to repair some spider cracks.

I don't believe it is a repair. Just the location and just the way it runs suggests a liquid. I guess acetone is a possibility but I would think it would take some time?

I'm going over to stand with the repair votes.

Ive seen a lot of random stuff that when not cleaned up has discolored gelcoat, (sunscreen, bugspray, soda, ..) But that def looks like a bad repair. Is anything underneath it (in dripping range) similarly damaged also? Trim, the deck, etc.?

Yes, the teak cup holder had a discolored section that coinsided with where the drips start at the gel coat. Then the teak trim had the same type of discoloration where the line down the face showed... I really think it was something spilled and not a repair. It does not stand out like a bad repair in person... it is also recessed perfectly like it was a spill...

my vote is for teak cleaning acid was left on to long or not neutralized and the acid drippped from teak.
