So now what do you do with reopening ?

Indoor dining is going to be risky until a vaccine is developed or the virus fades into the background. At least for folks in their later years.View attachment 84413

I hope expectations about a vaccine are adjusted real soon.

There is no vaccine for a virus that prevents the underlying disease as with flu. Flu vaccine is 20% effective. It’s released a year in advance of the upcoming flu season. There is no way to determine the strain in advance thus the low success rate. Note, we still have 25,000-50,000 deaths EACH YEAR from seasonal flu.

It will be the same should a COVID-19 vaccine be manufactured. I for one will not be taking this vaccine. Especially given the rush to market.

The ultimate vaccine is to catch the virus and survive it.

I’m putting more hope in them developing a better treatment protocol for severe symptoms that require hospitalization.

I have never taken the flu shot. What u said about the 19 vaccine makes sense.
Anyone else with medical aptitude mind to comment.

Watch this and you may never take another vaccine again!

It’s a well known fact your immune system weakens by staying inside and you’re more susceptible to illness and spreading by sequestering indoors.
One of the best things you can do is be outside in fresh air, active, sunshine, moving around.

Those locking themselves indoors are hurting themselves.

You are a freaking idiot. I am not sorry, that comment is so stupid and wrong it is pathetic. I have had and survived cancer. I have had an organ transplant. I am on proscribed immuno suppressant medication. That is what causes immunodeficiency, as does the aging process. Staying inside does not. And as a point of fact, there is no question if I get this I will, not may, but will, die. So it seems to me to be a no brainer to stay home away from the mask less who don’t give an F, or are too selfish, to care about who they infect.

More stupidity. Even at 20% (something I disagree with), it’s a better chance than 0%. Antibody immunity is yet to be proven for Covid 19.

For a normal healthy person El Capitan is correct... you need to be exposed to your environment to build up your immune system....do some research... Calling the guy a "freaking idiot" accomplishes nothing.
If you have a weakened immune system stay inside that's what you should be doing

No I am intimately aware of what improves ones Immune system. Fresh air and sunshine does not. No amount of sunshine will reverse the aging process, effects of cancer, or an organ transplant. I called him an idiot because his comments reflect how ignorant and stupid he is.

I say we shut down the economy, stay home and no-one go outside until 2022 when hopefully there’s a vaccine or covid runs its course. Then we can make sure it’s super duper safe outside and there’s no risk from this whatsoever. While we’re at it, no more driving either cause there’s a risk in doing that.

If that’s too strict then we should, at bare minimum, all get hazmat suits.

Can we all agree to that?

Well I am all for the elderly and folks with underlying conditions staying in, or doing what ever makes them feel safe.
However expecting people to not carry on with how they feel comfortable is selfish and self serving.

Henry, I've told you your wasting your time talking to Da El Capitan AKA "IKE" (I know everything":D

There is strong evidence that Vitamin D helps against the ravages of Covid-19. It's long been recommended to be in the sun (without sunblock) for 15-20 minutes 2 or so times a week so the body can thus create VitD. This is during the UVB ray period. That is the best time to get your body producing VitD. The VitD that your body makes is superior to VitD supplements because it's made for your body by your body.

True, the older we get the less efficient the body is in creating its own VitD. However sunshine improves the immune system by creating VitD through the skin.

Further, VitD on the skin can reduce cholesterol in the body.

Fresh air can boost the immune system. Look it up.

Finally, a positive attitude can also boost the immune system. The opposite is also true.

Where I used to live in Iowa people would drive their cars with gloves on and scarves making a mask over their faces. Inside the car with the windows rolled up. True. Of course, it was winter and -20F.

I’m not suggesting other folks not carry on. That said we have to recognize there is a new level of social responsibility. Look every human being on the planet is now a potential carrier of this disease which is serious. 80,000 dead and thousands in intensive care with a shutdown economy are proof of that. Look, society expects us to not simply punch the first person we see, or throw rocks at the neighbor’s dog.
Why is it asking too much to expect people to help prevent the spread of this disease given the damage it can cause?

You obviously don’t know my neighbors frickn dog... I ran out of rocks...

There is a whole social hide and wait theory and a let’s open up theory.... I think we will find something in between the extremes....which probably make the most sense.

It's up to each of us. If I wear a mask and follow the other recommendations, what do I care what everyone else does?

Expecting people to behave "correctly" or the way you think they should is going to make you disappointed.
