I'm good with sticking to boat topics on the CSR site but usually a mouse can't fart with out a thread being started about it, Just odd that with such an important world event happening that will directly affect the world economy and therefore our past time, no one has piped up.
I am fascinated by the events and the chess board that the Puter has set up. So many facets to the situation to consider.
I will be following and trying like hell to figure out where I might stand on the issue before I pontificate.

I too believe it a huge global chess match. I do not believe Putin does anything haphazardly or for no real resin. There is an angle to be had for sure. His intent was always to invade/ occupy the entirety of Ukraine not just the eastern enclaves of separatists. He has been obsessing over regaining the footprint of the former Soviet Union for decades. And now he feels it's time to Strike. I don't think the initial sanction threats will stop him bit the real test will come with who has the most resolve or staying power.

Just the newest episode in the longest running series. After 50 years of watching this type of made-for-T.V. drama unfold, I can't help but believe it's again, scripted. The U.S. and Russia have telegraphed their intentions for months. The media has amplified the sabre-rattling for weeks, with occasional breaks for trucker protests. Ad revenues will be up. The banks, the military-industrial complex, the energy companies and of course, politicians are all benefiting. They are in the spotlight as they universally condemn this latest conflict with "It's awful. Please stop it or we'll use sanctions!" The U.S. economy and social order depend on perpetual war. The only losers in this latest mess will be Ukrainians, as were the Syrians, Libyans, Afghans and Iraqis before them. The beat goes on.

I'm sure Biden will stop Putin as he does not want President Biden to inflict the horrors of sanctions like Obama did after Putin took the Crimea (sp?). I mean those sanctions were so strong Russia only became more wealthy over the years. So let's fix our borders, and hope that Russia does not use the ISS rockets to crash the station back to earth hitting my boat.

I know this is probably putin propaganda, but we know Ukraine is corrupt tho, so who knows

As we’re on the verge of war with Russia. AOC makes a pledge to slash military spending. Is she a genius or what?
No one is going to war with Russia except in the mainstream media scripting. We just have more of the same turmoil big business thrives upon. Ever notice that shortly after one global "crisis" (Covid) dies down, another one pops right up? The never-ending story.

If that were true he would’ve committed suicide yesterday.

What happens when he goes into one of the new NATO countries?

Somewhere in the deep, dark corners of reddit I saw yesterday a post comparing what Russia is doing in Ukraine to what the USA does in Iran (or perhaps insert any other middle eastern country we've occupied?). The allegation was that we take the opportunity to invade, drop bombs, occupy other countries when we feel "our way of life is being threatened". The position, obviously, was that Russia is doing the same thing we do all the time.

It was an interesting thought...

JimG,
W.W. 2 never really ended: there have been at least 17 wars with U.S. and NATO involvement since 1946. The "enemies" only differed, except for Russia. The West has been in a co-dependant military relationship with that region since W.W.2 started.

I have enough trouble keeping up on what’s going on here in the U.S.
Found it strange that gun grabbing msm describing the horror and tragedy of the invasion (and it is), then they state that the Ukrainian Government is handing out rifles to citizens in an effort to fend off the attackers.
I’ll be watching for the 5 tonight to run that sound bite followed by Beto yelling “damn right we’re going to take your guns”
