How do I know that you may ask. Well I went to pick up the 270 yesterday so that I could bring it home and address the overheating problem. I was told that it did not overheat at speed so I figured that I was good to go the half hour to my dock.
Well about 1.5 miles into the trip it did in fact start overheating so I killed both throttles and killed the overheating engine. I figured I would putt along on my good engine for a bit until the hot engine cooled down.
Well when I start to move, the cool engine will only go in reverse. No matter which way I push the throttle, forward or reverse, the boat will only go in reverse. I have no choice but to back my way to the marina. Took me quite a while as I was going against a 15MPH but I made it.
Luckily the hot engine was cool enough by then so that I didn't have to dock in reverse.
