Their excuse is the excessive drought we are having this year, but I have other ideas why. Our lake, that is town owned and has always been kept with in 6" of full pool in years past, is now down almost two feet and falling fast. Our launch ramp has went from just floating the boat off the trailer to a full power loading. It has gotten to the point to where it is unsafe for us to launch blue. So with us going on a cruise next week and starting our addition in two weeks, we have put the 200 Select in the garage next to the SS. It is way to early to do this, but until the lake comes up some, we don't need to take that chance. Plus my time will be working on the house.

So when I use to brag about paying $600 to put the boat on the lake, when you guys were having your issues with the droughts in the past, I am not only eating my words now, but my wallet as well.

I guess its time to travel. Wes and Dave, you want some company?

Come on over, sorry to hear about your trouble. It sounds very familiar to us last year.

That's a shame Brian but after the troubles we had with low water last year I certainly know how you feel. What's the closest lake to you other than Lake Lure?

Dave

Guys, lake Bowen is just a 40min drive away. Lake Keowee(sp?) is probibly an hour away. Never been to either lake as Lake Lure is only a 2min drive away to our ramp, so we have always gone there. With our water levels never being an issue in over 10 years, it makes you wonder.

I do want to trailer down to your guys area and spend the day on the lake with ya. If the two of you get out memorial day together, we would like to make the trip.

How are the levels on your lake compared to last year? Lake Lure never dropped below 6".

Lake Jocassee is a beautiful lake and is right there at Keowee. It would be the same travel time. One hour if that is what it takes you to get to Keowee because the landing on Jocassee is at Devils Fork right at the dam which seperates the two lakes. Would be a great trip for you to do an overnighter and do both lakes during the day because they are so close to each other but so different. Jocassee is a gorge- mountainous, very deep and COLD! Lots ot waterfalls to try to navigate to, find and climb. Keowee is shallower and warm. Has a good cliff to jump off of on the north side. Dont know how they compare to Lure. Have often wondered about visiting Lure myself. Make the drive and enjoy a little more summer!
