Hi guys--I'm a former 290DA owner and haven't been on CSR in years--partially because I've been on a never ending quest for a larger long range higher comfort boat, partially because I've owned an older 290 for 15 years which few people own now so there are few questions, and partially because I sort of ran out of things to ask on CSR. I was once pretty active, having started in 2006, and before that with the old group. So, I'm back for one more post to say thanks, and to give a quick description of how "life after Sea Ray" has evolved for me.
In our quest for a larger boat, my wife and I looked at Sea Rays, Grand Banks, Nordhavns, Flemings, and Nordic Tugs, and ended up buying a Nordic Tugs 37 Flybridge we found in Ft. Myers, FL. After some commissioning work, my wife and I brought her through the Okeechobee, then north up the ICW and home to a marina near Charleston, SC in late April. We had zero problems with the boat over the 10 days/680 miles, and it was definitely the trip of a lifetime. The NT37 has all the things we were looking for--a big galley, a single engine with a very roomy engine room, a full keel, a pilot house, two staterooms, a large flybridge, and a dinghy deck with davit. It can go 20 mph if needed, but cruises at 9 knots at 4-5 mpg with a 1000-1200 mile range. She's a lot of fun, and we look forward to many days aboard and trips up and down the east coast and the Bahamas after retirement.
And as to what happened to my beloved 290, I sold my her to a wonderful couple who are friends and members of our local Carolina Boaters group. They are having a blast with the former "Hey Babe" and are using her as much as I did, which is a LOT!
So thanks ClubSearay for all the great info for so many years, and for allowing me to meet so many wonderful people, many of whom have become very good personal friends. And thanks to Frank W, and many other members here for the generous help in my boat search. I hope I didn't abuse your amazing generosity and great knowledge. CSR and the folks here have had a profound impact on my boating life and I will always be glad for my time here.
Take care,
Sadler
