Well, on September 24th, we were hauled out to make some minor gear teeth repairs to the outdrive. This process was supposed to be done in a few days. Here we are on October 17th, and the boat is sitting in the parking lot with no repairs made to the outdrive. Usually, the fall is the nicest boating season here because it's easy to get in/out of marinas (dock wherever you want) and there are no weekend idiots to contend with .

Sadly, we're thinking it's pretty safe to say that we won't splash back in until the Spring :smt009. It's a bummer for sure, but we had a great summer of boating! The past few weekends have been stormy with high winds anyway.

Here's the weather alert issued today:
A HIGH WIND WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH
SUNDAY AFTERNOON.

THIS COVERS THE CAPE AND ISLANDS AS WELL AS BLOCK ISLAND RHODE
ISLAND.

LOW PRESSURE NEAR THE CAROLINA COAST WILL DEVELOP INTO A STRONG GALE
LATE TONIGHT AND PASS WITHIN 100 MILES TO THE SOUTHEAST OF NANTUCKET
SUNDAY NIGHT.

SUSTAINED NORTHEAST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 25 TO 35 MPH EARLY SUNDAY
MORNING WITH GUSTS POTENTIALLY TO BETWEEN 50 AND 60 MPH...ESPECIALLY
DURING THE DAYLIGHT HOURS ON SUNDAY.

:smt013 Too bad.

That is rough...

Here is what we are putting up with:

PHOENIX FORECAST, OCTOBER 17TH, 2009

Expect another hot day across the Valley as high pressure peaks across the region. Afternoon high temperatures
will run right around the century mark across the desert, which will be very close to record heat.

bite me

Yeah, not sure what all the complaining is about, we have 80 with light winds today...Just trying to decide where to go.

This is what i'm getting today. :smt021. ...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON
THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON...

A WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON
THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON.

ANOTHER AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL MOVE NORTH ALONG THE MID
ATLANTIC COAST SATURDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT. THIS SYSTEM HAS THE
POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS ACROSS
THE WATCH AREA...ESPECIALLY EAST OF THE I-81 CORRIDOR. THE
HIGHEST POTENTIAL FOR ACCUMULATING SNOW WILL BE FROM SATURDAY
AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING. WITH TEMPERATURES EXPECTED TO IN
THE MIDDLE TO UPPER 30S DURING THE DAY AND NEAR FREEZING AT
NIGHT...A HEAVY AND WET SNOW IS EXPECTED. THIS TYPE OF SNOW WOULD
STICK TO TREES...ESPECIALLY THOSE THAT STILL HAVE THEIR LEAVES...
AND POWER LINES. BECAUSE OF THIS...POWER OUTAGES AND DAMAGE TO
TREES ARE POSSIBLE. :smt100

Hey, it isn't all roses, I stand a good chance of getting sunburned this afternoon...

Going to the Annapolis boat show tomorrow. There has been no sun in Maryland for seven days, rain for the past three. It will rain tomorrow also. The wet boat salesmen will make you take your shows off and leave them on the dock before boarding thier boats. I will have cold wet feet tomorrow. I am a boater,I will go.

More money down the drain…someone has to do it indeed…

For god sakes man, please wear sunscreen!!!

bush who's working on your boat?

Yeah the north east weather is tough this year......I went to the marina to get supplies today and they were out already since people are panicing!

How about feeling bad for me... Spent all day winterizing the boat in the crappy, damp, windy Rhode Island weather while the g/f is in 80 degree miami on a rented boat... (hence the other thread, "4 girls looking to rent a boat") and she calls "how's it going?"

bush who's working on your boat?

Engine work by Green Pond Marina (Falmouth). We still need to get it over to Hyannis Marina at some point for other miscellaneous repairs: bimini top, countertop for the wet bar, speakers, and some other minor things that I can't think of right now.

Giff, No wonder they make you take your shoes off..... 20+ years of going to the boat shows and you still haven't bought a new one yet????? Just kidding

The weather here has been really crappy lately. Usually we can get a few good days in October and early November before pulling, but it doesn't seem like it is going to happen this year.

It's a real bummer that our boat is out of the water seeing as today is perfect boating weather. Hardly any wind, ocean's calm. October is a great time to cruise around out there, because October is when the cruise ships come through and drop anchor to shuttle people over to Martha's Vineyard. It's always cool to go up near the cruise ships and check them out!

This photo was taken today... Hard to see the cruise ship about 4 miles offshore in this picture (iPhone camera), but it sure is flat. I'll try to take some in a few minutes with a good camera!

This photo was taken a couple years ago, in October, approaching one of the cruise ships. This was one of the NCL (Norwegian Cruise Lines) fleet. Great looking ship...

Good times. Too bad we weren't able to do it again this year.

PS: Going over to take some pictures now. Hoping the ship hasn't sailed off (very possible). If I get some good shots, I'll post them so we can all drool over how gorgeous the ocean is today.
