so a waste basket goes under the step?

reading around i found that the space below my step in to the cabin is meant for a waste basket? good to know, didn't know that and now i want to utilitze this space for that. is there a basket made for it? i searched for baskets and didn't find one with a matching size... 8.5x11. im gonna search around more but if anyone uses this space for trash and has a different setup, could you post pics or link?... i was thinking some sort of clips or something around the edge to hold a bag and just bypass a can altogether... how are you all using this space?

My 99 had a basket... the lip of the basket held it from falling through. I think it was a standard size that you can get at WallyWorld.

Yes, that would have been with the boat from the factory as a standard item. Most likely you can source it somewhere locally or on Amazon. But if you run into problems finding it, here is the Sea Ray part number and description (with dimensions for comparing to local stuff). It's still the same one that is being used currently, so a local dealer can get it.

Different boat, but our space there is designed for a plastic trash bag of the sort you get at many grocery stores. Even has little knobs to snag the handles on the bags. Very handy spot for a bag.

Mine has a standard Rubbermaid small waste can under there.

I just Googled it and found this one, which I am certain is the correct one. The color matches, and the 2 extrusions on each end are there. I hook the bags over them to keep them from dropping in.

The dimensions of it exactly match the dimensions in Dennis' post as well.

I don't have a waste basket under the step. There are two small wooden boards that create a shelf above the sump. Since there is a waste basket built into the counter top, a second basket seems rather redundant.
