Smartcraft

I have a 2001 310 Sundancer with 350 mag mpi v-drives. I do not have the smartcraft display unit. I do have a connection on my
northstar multifunction display for smartcraft. How do i know if my engines are equipped to work with smartcraft. Any info would be helpful my manual has no mention of it.

On my 03 6.2l there is a label on the spark arestor cover and the are numerous sensors all over the engine along with the standard analog sensors. See the attached image. its located under the MPI symbol.

2003 was the first year that smartcraft was included on mercruisers engines, as far as I remember. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Not true. My 2002 Merc's are Smartcraft-enabled, and I added the guages a couple of years ago. Based on my research then, Smartcraft was introduced mid-2001 but not on the entire line (as I recall the big blocks got it first).

Easy way to tell for sure is have a Merc service center run the engine serial numbers.

The 8.1/496 engines were built with Smartcraft from the beginning. Smartcraft did not get implemented by SR on boats until the entire Mercury product line had been updated. SR also had to dump their proprietary 'Next Generation' gauge line which may caused some of the delay.

Good to know, as I couldn't remember for sure. I repowered my 280 DA with 2003 5.0 MPI's and was told at the time that I had one of the first smartcraft equiped engines. (probably just wanted to sell me on the engine)

Funny I thought all of the 'Queens' were steamships..... Didn't know Smartcraft was installed that early.....

Has anyone had any experience upgrading from System View version 3.xxx to version 3.45? I have an 04 340 Dancer with the System View but does not give instant MPG gallon anywhere, would really like to have that. I downloaded the manual for Version 3.45 and there is a Fuel Management page that has it so I'm looking for an upgrade path.
