Smartcraft Gauges anyone retrofitted?

Good point; my current GPS (a Garmin 3210) supports NMEA 0183...so that would be another thing to consider. I need to go smaller anyway, the 3210 is too big for my boat.

I think I read the SC1000 gauges supported the 0183 standard though...

Henry will need to correct me if I am wrong but I believe the only use for the NMEA0183 input to Smartcraft is to transfer GPS data to the SC system.

The only ways to get all the sensor info to display on a chartplotter is-

A- Use a Northstar SC Gateway if you have a Northstar Plotter

B- Use a MercMonitor which translates SC Data to NMEA2000.

Gunn,

There may be a caveat with using the Merc Monitor that you should also have it hooked up to a display that can show the NMEA 2000 data otherwise you might be limited to only seeing what you have gauges for.

Henry

According to the brochure, the MM displays everything but you have to toggle between the screens to see. I am still unclear how you toggle between engines but I am sure there is a way. This product was released a bit premature and has had a couple revisions since being first released. Whatever you do, make sure you get one with a recent manufacture date. I have a copy of the manual if anyone wants to look it over.
