I have a 2005 200 sundeck with a 5.0mpi. When I am underway my smart craft guage will beep and say trim fault. It normally only does it when I am on plane dosnt matter where I have the trim set to. I tryed recalibrated it and it didnt help. Where do I go from here.
Thanks
Erik

I used to get the same thing, the trim sender would jump around a little at certain trim settings, could hardly notice it on the gauge. I picked up a trim sender rebuild kit (just the inside disc) for like 20.00 and no problems since. Could be the wiring connections as well. The smartcraft will beep when it goes out of range just for a second, its more annoying than anything.

this isn't the favored solution; but you can override the smartcraft to not show the fault at all. Mine have never worked well; so that part of the alarm is disabled.

There was a Merc bulletin on bad wiring in some trim senders. I had my STBD one redone last year. No problems since. If you need a copy of the bulletin, let me know. It is too old now to get it paid for, but mine was covered by my aftermarket warranty. At least it paid for some/most of it. It is bulletin number 92-12. See of you can google it.

Thanks for some ideas does anybody know where the trim sender is located?

The trim senders are on the stern drive - round things on the sides. One is a trim limiter that stops the drive going to high - the other is the trim sender that tells you how many degrees the drive is lifted.

How do you turn off the alarm I went through the calibration and cant find where you would turn this off. I found how to turn off the trim but then my other guage dosnt show the trim either. Is there any way I can get it to just not show the fault.
Thanks

Many people disable or just ignore it. I didn't. Warranty replacement (I had to pay about half the haul out bill). My aftermarket warranty has paid for itself (I paid $100 to transfer it to me.)!

Did you find the Merc bulletin? If not, give me your email addy and I can send it to you.

I found the bulletin thanks. Trying to figure out if I can make the fault beep go away with out losing my trim guage. The beeping is driveing me up the wall. I will probley replace the sender over next winter when I pull the drive.

Do you have a part number for this? I have heard about these rebuild kits before but every time I have tried to order one I was told they did not know what I was talking about. When I had this same issue the OP described, I had to replace the entire sender kit.

Does the kit come with 2 rotor disks to cover each side? Or rather, does the trim position and trim limit both use one of these or just the trim position side?
It only comes with one rotor disk. This rotor will only repair the trim position. The trim limit does not have "repair" kit.

Jason, Still no luck with being able to "send" your other question at this time, sorry. But i'll see what I can do to help with your coolant flush question when I get some extra free time if you would like.:smt001
