I am having a cracked engine compartment blower cover replaced on our 280. It turns out the original was a plastic of some kind and not fiberglass. The replacement that we just got also appears to be black and plastic as well. The fiberglass contractor I hired does not think gelcoat will stick to this thing. Anyone have any idea of what and how this cover should be coated?
Also does anyone have an idea of how it is attached? I had been told that it was just caulking, but based on the amount damage done to the original, whatever was used is in the 5200 / epoxy class of adhesive.
I am trying the dealership for help, but so far no luck.
