How much room does everyone have? Just curious

my beam is 11'5" and new slip width is 12'6" what do you guys think of having only 1 foot?

I am at the end now so I don't have another boat to contend with

It depends on how good you are at docking, but to me, that's a little tight. My slip is 16 ft wide so I have plenty of space for the same beam

That sounds tight but with fingers on both sides that is great! I would have two drunk wheels and good rub-rail all the way... should be fine.

I share a slip with a 34 Stinker that is ~12', I am 10.5' and we have ~5' between us... no problem!

Geez...I have dock envy. I have a 13' beam and 14' slip. I have drunk wheels and rub rails and still am writing a check today for $400 to the guy who had to redo the gouges on my swim platform (although it looks great). The upside is that I have really had to learn to be more competent in maneuvering, even though I really don't have to deal with tides or currents...but heaven help me when there is a strong wind.

Makes it easier to tie-up and also easier to wash. The slip we are currently in barely has room for our 10" fenders but oru friends have a 460DA in the same size slip! No fenders required or possible there...

We share a slip area with another boat, so we probably have 6' between us and the other boat. I am envious of you guys who have no boat in the same slip, even if it is a bit tight (although some seem real tight) We have lots of strong winds in our marina, and with the BIIIs so far out back, the bow tends to have a mind of it's own and can take off pretty fast. When i picked up the boat in lake wallenpaupack, it was in a slip by itself and big inflatable wheels on the end corners... and maybe a foot on each side. A nice set up.

I have a 13' beam, and I'm in a slip that was actually a custom for a larger boat. My slip is about 19' wide. That probably sounds good to most people, but I wish it was about 2' narrower so I could reach the boat easier from the side docks. I think 2 ft on either side of the boat is about right for docking and washing.

I will post a pic to show you how we moor in my country and you will stop complaining .... I have dock envy!!!

The beam on boats is measured at the widest spot. Down at the level of the docks a boat is much narrower so all these slip measurements don't really have much correlation to the beam width. My current slip is 20' wide and the beam is 15' 5", so there's plenty of room. Too much actually because it makes washing the boat a bit of a PITA.

My last slip, when I had my 330 was 12' wide and the beam 11'5". I had to back in and that wasn't bad unless the wind was out of the north. I couldn't swing the bow around against the north wind without using a spring line so I had to back the boat down the fairway, keeping the bow into the wind, then back it into the slip.

For the last 2.5 years, I was in a slip that offered about 3 inches on both sides. I couldn't even get fenders down until after it was slipped and then I would deflate part way and push them between the boat and the dock. Took some work, but made me much better at docking the boat. Last month I got a great deal on a 40 foot slip, which gives me about 1.5 feet on each side. I feel like the boat docks itself now.

12'6" in a 14' slip.....usually a wind from the port side or bow to throw you off. Thank god for big wheels to make her turn quickly! Could never moor with another vessel in the slip beside me. That would just make me nervous that we might collide one day.

Also what kind of water will the boat be sitting in? I mean will the boat be dead still water or will boats be passing or waves rolling into the marina? I would want to have some wiggle room if the boat will be rocking. Theres a guy with an old 390 up in the front of the marina and if that boats 13' wide his well is 13'2". But he's all the way up by the hoist with little to no traffic and any lake waves rarely make it down that far.

Here is a picture of the dock. My slip has a 320 monterey in it in the picture but we are in it now. The slip is the one on the left. This is a "NO Wake Zone" but of course there are those idiots who don't either know or care what that means!!

I'm in 14.5' slip with 12.5' beam. Very comfortable. One year I had a 13.5' slip which really didn't pose much of a problem. Our slips are fixed catwalk on one side, open to the next boat on the other. We back in and tie to two forward pilings. The pilings make things a bit easier b/c as long as you get the transom btwn the pilings, you can ping-pong in using the pilings and rubrail and do no damage. Floating docks would be more of a problem, I would think, when the slip is narrow. Probably a fair amount of potential for gouging.

My last marina, but same concept, though I no longer have that mid-ship piling...

Now if you want to know how much room I have to maneuver in the fairway, that's a whole other story. From my piling to the bow of the boat across the way I've got about 63' (boat is 35'8" overall). No room for error! My friend with the 420AC (LOA 45') two boats to my left has 60' btwn his piling and the guy across the way. He has a thruster but doesn't really use it.

This is a "drunk wheel" aka "dock wheel". Installs on the outside/end corners of your slip to help guide you in the slip w/minimum or no gouging! We just put 2 on our slip, and they are wonderful, quietly sitting there waiting until you . . . uh, need a little help.

I have a 14' wide 40' long slip with a 4' wide deck at the swim platform and have a little less than 2' on each side at the back. Works pretty good for me.

If the water is quiet, the 1ft should be ok. 2 ft would be the max comfort factor.
Is that mau marine in Okoboji? Thats where i bought my current boat...........

I have 11.5' beam and 14.5' well so enough room around both sides.
