I've got a Garmin 3210 with a GLD30(A) weather box on the Garmin Marine network. Does anybody here use the SirusXM weather and do you like it? Do you take the monthly subscription or do you you do a seasonal rate?
I want to activate mine this week and thought I'd get opinions.
BTW are there different packages of coverage? If so, which did you choose.

I went for monthly since our season is fairly short.

I have E120 and SR100 module. This is the only system I used with satellite weather. It has great features to help you plan trips safely and avoid the storms when they're approaching. But, the things that I don't like is the poor service for forecasts. I've spend a lot of time on the phone with these guys and the best answer I've heard is that they broadcast forecasts only few times a day and with unit on for an hour or two may not get it. I need to keep mine turned on for very long time (like 1/2 a day) and sometimes I still see the same msg "no forecasts for the zone". I wish it was faster as overall information is processed kind of slow. But, I've used it many times to keep an eye on storms and determine my approach (outrun, move to a different location or ride it out). RM confirmed that there's nothing wrong with my equipment.

Alex, do you have the Fisherman/sailor package or skywatch?

My SIRIUSXM weather is included on my automobile (Toyota) for free. I think this is because it is not worth paying for from the quality I see... Is there a different version of SIRIUSXM weather for boating then there is for automobiles? I can not zoom to a close level, the accuracy is way off - it can be pouring rain outside and the map shows clear, I can not get forcasts unless I am near a big city. I could never see myself using this to plan a boat trip or out manuver a thunderstorm while I am out on the river. Maybe I need to upgrade to a different package?

Thanks, Pete.

Alex, do you have the Fisherman/sailor package or skywatch?

There are only two packages available, at least for RM equipment. For SR100 (what I got) only Charter Pkg is available and for SR50 (older version) the Mariner Pkg. So, I got the Charter.

I would check with other people in your area that have the service and get feedback from them. Opinions vary widely on the quality of Sirius/ service.
I had it in one of my cars for a few years and finally dropped it because I found that it wasn't nearly worth it.
Others swear by it.

I've got the SR50 with my C80 and love it. I suspend the service in November and reactivate in April (you're allowed to suspend service for 6 months). It's best for seeing fast moving storms approaching. Just today at the dock, I saw a small cell heading toward us and had time to cover up and wait it out inside the club.

ive got the skywatch on my humminbird gps and i love it, the radar isnt the most "hi-def", but it works great and seems to be pretty accurate in my opinion.
definitley better than the weather channel app on my ipad or iphone which is all that i had prior..........
