I have a 2004 Sundeck 240, with the Sirius-ready Clarion CDM3 head unit. I want to hook up the Sirius satellite radio. I've gotten conflicting answers from Sirius, Clarion, and tss-radio.com, and read many different opinions on these boards.

Besides the Sirius subscription, what exactly do I need to get up an running, model numbers, etc.? I currently have a Sirius Stratus 6 tuner for my vehicle, but I was probably going to leave that be and purchase a new tuner. I called tss-radio.com, and they suggested the Clarion Sirius Connect Package, which includes the SC1 connect unit, the SCC1 tuner, and all the connecting cables and hardware.

Any suggestions on exactly what I need to purchase and how to hook it up? Thanks.

Did you check Crutchfield.com for a package?

I connected this spring. You will need SC1 and tuner. The antennae (sp?) connects to the tuner and from the tuner to the Clarion radio. They come with about 25ft of cable. I had to buy additional cable from antennae to tuner due to run length. The additional cable was expensive $100.00

I have a Sirius Stiletto 2. with a lifetime subscription. The stiletto 2 is portable I have a car dock and a home dock and I'm getting another car dock for my boat shortly. You simply slide the stiletto out of one dock and into the other this way you need only one subscription, and it records up to 200 hours it's perfect.
I hook the car & home dock directly into the receivers with an input cable, that's the best way to do it. Unfortunately my boat is a 98 with the original Clarion that does not have an input jack. I was going to switch it out but that would mean running the cables for the remote on the dash that looks like a pita, so I decided to go a different route. Fortunately the car dock also has a built in FM transmitter which will send the signal to a freq. that you preselect. This method is not always the best because when your travelling you drive into areas that may interfere that may have a conflicting FM signal but on a boat you probably wont be traveling that far so wont have that issue. Good Luck

i have a Stratus 6 portable Sirius radio. I have car docks in three different cars and in my boat. I currently move the radio around between the cars and the boat as needed, but it is a bummer when you get to the water and discover you left the radio in a car at home. i thought about getting a couple more radios to just leave in the cars/boat all the time but i checked with Sirius and each different radio has to have a separate account. so for now i'll just continue to swap the radio between vehicles. my boat has a Kenwood marine head unit that the PO put in. It does have an input jack for the SC1 kit from Sirius, but i am considering upgrading the head unit at some point so opted not to buy the SC1 kit. for now i just use the FM transmitter that is built into the Sirius radio. it actually works quite well once you get the proper station selected. we normally go to the same lakes so once you preset the stations for a specific lake or specific area of a lake it is easy to choose the best station for that area. plus the Sirius SC1 kits are fairly pricey, but they undoubtedly give a better overall sound since they provide a direct connection between the radio and the head unit. right now on the boat i am using the standard 'hockey puck' design antenna that comes with a Sirius car kit. i have it lying on a shelf in the cabin near the radio. fiberglass supposedly does not interfere with the radio signals from the Sirius satellite. as long as i don't have anything on top of the boat deck blocking the signal from the antenna below the signal comes in strong through the hull. i considered buying a Sirius marine antenna that mounts outside the boat but as long as the standard antenna works well there is no need to spend the money and/or take the time to run cables.

Ihave a Sirius stratus 6 for my car and would like to use it on my boat. How would I power the radio? I have an fm modulator to direct connect to my clarion xmd2 (that I currently use for my iPod).

FYI I am not interested in using the built in fm translator from my stratus 6.

On the car dock connect the line out to the clarion iPod/input. For DC power I would splice into the 12 VDC line going to the back of your radio and find the ground line and do the same or use the outside metal radio case for ground.
