Where is your antenna installed? Mine's in front of port side windshield. Is yours on the radar arch? Often times I get "linking" on the CMD4A and cannot receive Sirius signal. Trying to figure out if it's my boat's location (blockage from marina bldg) or the antenna placement.

estebanj: Our antenna is also mounted in front of the port windshield. We rarely experience reception problems unless I'm standing on the bow washing the windows. Other than when the radio is first turned on, I can't recall experiencing the linking issue you describe. Before you move the antenna, you may wish to have your dealer check the wiring/connections and the antenna for proper operation (add it to your punch list).

Just picked mine up on Thursday and it is in front of port windscreen. I can't, nor can Sirius, seem to get it to work. It is tuned to 154 but no sound and activating doesn't seem to cause anything to happen - it doesn't go through the updating sequence or anything (this is my 5th Sirius so I know the routine). Resetting the radio doesn't help either. I guess I'll have to discuss with the dealer.

Try removing the panel and check all the connections. Is it channel 154 or 184 for the test connection?

What does the radio show? Linking or something else?

One problem with the SIR-CL3 is that some units don't reset properly and are never able to connect. This happens for example if you turn ignition on/off with the radio on, although it has also happened to me with the radio off.

What do you have? Clarion CMD4, CMD4A, CMD5? And SIR-CL1 or CL3?

Check your antenna connection. It's easy to remove the panel and check cables.

Meant 184. CMD4 is the radio. When I select sat (2,3,4 - 1 shows station 0) it just showd 184 - doesn't change or get updated. Never shows linking. I also get no sound out of it on 184. Radio stations seem to work fine so base unit must be OK.
Take panels off? I usually hate that but I can try. I guess it is the panel that has the radio on it? Probably should check the cd changer also.
Thanks,

Not able to change SAT channels on mine is a sympton of the need to reset the unit. However, I don't know if the same applies to pre-activation radios, meaning are you normally able to change channels on a non-activated radio?

Removing the panel (where the radio is mounted) is reasy. On mine there are 8 screws and they are easy to remove/reinsert. Back there you will see the SIR-CL1 or CL3. Try reconnecting this cable and restart before you put the panel back. Or just put 2 screws back for now until you finish troubleshooting this.

On mine, when the SAT locks up, I can still play AM/FM/CD.

Locate the Sirius receiver box, probably in the galley area. There is a antenna wire connected to the top and a data cable to the bottom. Dis-connect the data cable for a minute or so and plug back in. It will reset. To avoid this in the future turn off the radio before turning the ignition and before switching batteries.

Gredmer,

I noticed the same thing. If I go to start the engine while the Sirius is on it seems to lock up. I guess it's due to the brief drop in voltage? Removing the data cable seems to clear the problem but it's a pain. This lock up condition also occurs if I try to quickly step up through the channels. I'm not sure what causes that but it happens too often for me.

On another post, someone reported that Clarion acknowledged this as a problem with some SIR-CL3s (wouldn't reset properly) and this person was able to get a replacement. I have not contacted Clarion yet.

Resetting the Sirius worked and now it plays - for another reason batteries and power was shut off for a while and I guess that re-set it. Now I have to convince the dealer that there is a replacement Sirius module he has to get and install.

Thanks all.
