I just ordered a Siren Marine Pro 3 monitoring system and starting to think of mounting locations. For those that have installed one, how sensitive is the internal GPS sensor and cellular antenna?

I have probably a half-dozen options for where I could mount the main unit - but I don't know how well the unit would get the GPS signals in some of the places - like in a mechanical space, under a fiberglass hatch, under a fiberglass hard top. Of course there are options to install external antennas but it would be nice not to have to buy and install another antenna.

I have it mounted behind my starboard cabinets under the fiberglas deck. Nothing is exposed to the outside, and my boat sits under a metal roofed shed. GPS and Cellular signal seem fine although I'm not sure how far you can trust those signal strength icons in the app.

Of course cellular is also a function of the reception in your area. I believe the pro uses T-Mobile 4g.

Mine is the old one 3G and it is burried in the engine room and works great. I am thinking you can install it pretty much anywhere.
