Due to the post hurricane fuel shortage on Long Island I'm forced to scavenge gas from my boat, the 90 degree elbows at the top of the fuel tanks make it "impossible" to siphon gas out thru the filler necks. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the fuel out safely. Local news is reporting that many gas stations will not be getting shipments until the middle of next week.

With a fuel injected engine the problem is half solved for you. When the ignition is turned on, the fuel pump will pressurize the fuel lines.

If you have the fittings and hoses laying around, disconnect the fuel line running to the engine and attach a hose that you can use to fill a fuel can. Without starting the boat, turn the ignition on and the fuel pump will pump the fuel out of the tank. Be sure to turn the ignition off before overflowing your fuel tank.

Thanks for the info, this will be my next option if things don't turn around soon.
