Yes...as long as you're in a real twin and not some piece of junk like a Seminole or Duchess. All the second engine does on those planes is fly you to the scene of the accident.I have had 2 full power losses and one partial in twin airplanes. I am very glad that I was not in a single.

A hot plane too...as I recall, you really need to be on top of your single engine skills...look at that itty-bitty rudder. It's a good one. Piper Aerostar
A freight dog!I love the Aerostar, saved my bacon a number of times while flying cancelled checks out of Buffalo. My run was BUF - ROC - ALB- Bradly Intl - UCA - ROC - BUF four nights a week, and added SYR on the fifth. I flew both the baron and aerostar on these routes, and while the baron could haul a ton of ice, I always preferred the aerostar with it's electric props.
Sounds like you came up the hard way...congrats! I hope your recent surgery doesn't keep you out of the cockpit long!Yup, started as a freight dog (after being a CFII-MEI for five year), flew checks for a little over year, then celebs in business jets for about 8 years, passengers in B-727, 757, 737 and 717 for the next 9 years and now finishing my career as a freight dog yet once again, so far in B-757/767, MD-11 and soon B-747-400.
I have a Vans RV-8 I'm working on very slowly (nothing like running two companies and trying to build a home built plane at the same time). I hope to join the "First Flight" club at some point in the future with this plane.Ye, but I had a BRS (Ballistic Recover System) parachute on my RAN S12 experimental plane. So there....:smt043:lol:
You have to love the Low and Slow flying just like Wilbur and Orville. Any body else ever flown into 1st Flight?

I want my own plane... I have to go to Cincinnati next week and I think I could drive as fast as commercial will get me there.
I don't know if it's a matter of getting older and slower or frustration with the whole commercial flying thing now (or both), but I will drive anything under 8 hours so I don't have to fly. You leave when you want, you take what you want in the car, you stop where you want, you eat what you want, etc, etc. I'm getting more like my Dad everyday...I want my own plane... Oh, that "First Flight"...no, I've never been there, but I'd love to see it...gotta put that on my bucket list along with buying another Bonanza.Sold the Rans years ago. Got an Avid Flyer plus full set of floats, but have not flown it in years. I hear you about not having the time. Last time I was in the outer bank just had to rent a plane and land at "First Flight". Kind like a holy pilgrimage if you are a pilot.
