2005 270 Amberjack - The problem was rapid draining of the baitwell immediately after shutting off the pump. It appeared that the rubber drain plug may be leaking until I noticed that there was no discharge from the starboard thru-hull fitting and the draining action stopped when the water level reached the lower edge of the fill nozzle located a few inches from the bottom of the baitwell. I removed the interior panels from the baitwell cabinet to expose plumbing in search of a check valve. I found an "air break" check valve at the top of the fill hose. All that was required was to remove and thoroughly clean this unit. Debris had plugged the small rubber air bladder at the top edge resulting in the water siphoning back thru the pump and out the seacock. I hope this info saves someone time and expense if the same problem is encountered.
