Silly Ski Mirror Question

Does anyone have the Ski mirror for their boat? Where the heck do you mount the thing? I have tried a few times to mount it and can't figure it out. The owners manual is of no help. My boat came with the thing and I would like to know how to use it (since it cost like $150).

I do have a ski mirror, but the kind with a suction cup. The only other kind I have seen are the ones that mount to the frame on top of the windshield, try that.

Do you have a tower or are you going to mount to a windshield?

I do not have a tower. The mirror that I am talking about is the Searay mirror that came with the boat. It appears to mount to the windshield frame, but it's not obvious how. I tried simply sliding it on and it does not work. I'll try again tonight and see WTF is going on. It's a big, chrome & black kind of ugly thing and a bit on the heavy side.

I have a similar problem. My 185 came with a Ski Mirror that mounted easily to the windshield, but unfortunately the mirror surface started degrading so I took it in to MM for warranty replacement. The replacement looked a little different but was assured it was just a new revision. Well, I can't get it to mount anywhere on the boat, I think it may be designed for a different boat or maybe for the tower. I took it back to MM and they assure me its the right one and they spend an hour trying to mount it and finally gave up. Searay tells them its the right mirror and I've been waiting for 2 weeks now for the parts manager to figure out either why this mirror won't mount or get the right part. According to them, they don't make the original mirror that came with the boat last year. I have a picture somewhere of the correct mirror mounted on my boat, I will try to post a little later.

Well if what you are saying is correct, my silly ski mirror question is actually a good question. Any pic's that you could provide would be very much appreciated.

Here is the pic. Does your mirror have the thumb screws to hold it on? That's the original one that came with the boat and the only one that worked for me. MM/Searay can't seem to replace it.

That's the same mirror. I tried it out yesterday and it worked fine. Thanks for the help!
