Apologies if I am in wrong forum for this question. I am a current holder of Tow Boat US. and have a policy with Progressive. I am thinking of adding sign and glide for minimal additional costs annually (Dropping Tow Boat US). Tow Boat is $200 and renew is coming up. I know I should not really worry about having to pay 200 for that security of fast response from Boat US, but wondering if anyone has used sign and glide and what their thoughts are.

I'd first change your insurance, then worry about your towing :) I only say that because I think Progressive is mostly selling boat policies and not true yacht policies. They are cheap but you might find their coverage less than ideal if something happens.

But back to Tow Boat - sounds like you have the Gold Unlimited plan? You could back it down a bit and chose a cheaper package? I like the peace of mind using the Tow Boat US app so the membership is worth it to me (even if doubling up on coverage). I don't think you get the app access unless you buy the plan directly?

You're in a busier boating area - could you also check Sea Tow to see if they are cheaper in your area?

Can you get a yacht policy on a less than 27 or 25’ boat?

Call progressive and ask about sign and glide. I think they contract with local companies. Possibly the same tow boat would show up regardless of who you called for help.

That's a great question! I'd assume it's not so much the size of the boat as it is the coverage limits. Perhaps worth a call to some of the other carriers out there. There have been many discussed here on CSR over the years...

So far I'm satisfied with Progressive. I don't own a "true yacht" anyway, but thanks for your advice. I do have Gold with Tow Boat and yes I am in a very busy area along the south shore of long island so if I ever do need Im concerned about response time. Thanks for your input. I would love to hear from someone that has actually used sign and glide

Will do, I have read on other places that you may not be covered for tows from sand bars (90 percent of south shore. LOL) or you will also have to pay out of pocket for some of the costs.

I had a "yacht" policy on a 24' bowrider.

Very few, if any, have Progressive here. As recommended above, get a yacht / agreed value policy and keep the TowBoatUS plan. With most yacht policies they'll have your towing coverage included then the TowBoatUS is just icing on the cake.

One use of TowBoatUS paid for about 10 years worth of the membership fees, for me. I'll never leave the dock without it.

Like FC623 said most insurance companies offer towing however most tow boats require payment to even come to you so you pay out of pocket and then submit to insurance company for reimbursement. I have both because now a days insurance companies are just looking for something to raise the premiums. IMO :)
