Can anyone help me? I am trying to get the side panels off to recover them. I have a 1988 Sea Ray 250 with the fisherman interior. I have the two captains chairs with bait boxes. I would really appreciate any help that someone could give me.

I thought someone with a 250 would have answered this. I have a 1989 300 but Sea Ray probably used similar construction. The panels are covered plywood with a 1/4" bolt in them. One bolt in the upper forward end and another at the aft end. The bolt will pass through a hole in the fiberglass somewhere on the gunnel secured by a nut and fender washer in a place almost impossible to reach. Feel around and you will find it. The center of the panel is secured top and bottom by an angle piece of aluminum screwed to the deck and panel

Thank you for the response, I had found the two 1/4" bolts on either end but I was not sure what was holding the middle part of the pad. So I should just remove the two nuts and then will the panal just slide out or what? I really appreciate the help.

Check for hidden screws between the folds of fabric where the different colors meet. I had screws and bolts through those on mine.

Yes. The bolts are impeded in the plywood panels with an insert. Just remove the nuts and the panels will slide right out. Be careful feeling around behind the glasswork. These older Rays are not cleaned up real well back there. You will cut your hands on the jagged unfinished fiberglass if you are not careful.

Also a good spots for wasp nest! When I start reworking on boats now, in the spring/summer, the first thing I do is have a look under there. Be ready to spray and RUN!
