Hi - on both sides of my cockpit in my 91 310 sundancer, i have vinyl padding. on the Starboard side, behind the wetbar, the paneling has gotten watersoaked. In pulling it back, it looks kind of 'gooey'... I think water has been streaming down from the camper top. I"m not totally sure how it got back there.

1) Does anyone know the construction of these panels?
2) Does anyone know how to take these panels off? for this particualr one, i beleive it also means removing the wetbar cabinet.
3) if my camper top idea is wrong - can someone suggest other routes as to how it got there?

in the picture - the spot is (as looking at the pic) to the right of the wetbar, just past the plastic tab hanging down and towards the top.

thanks

If you do not have an answer by this weekend I will take a look at mine and report back.

I would think the wet bar will have to be removed. Most likely there are bolts thru the floor, look in your engine compartment. As for the panels there will be an assortment of christmas tree clips and nuts on the back side. I have just gone through this, we are about the same vintage, and these panels just rot over time. Be careful removing old panel, so you can use it as a template for a new one. There will be some braces for the angled piece, try to save and reuse. I was able to reuse the foam padding on ours, and just stapled new vinyl

From the outside - the vinyl looks great, piping surround as well - its just when i peeled back to see 'if' water had seeped down there from where i thought i was getting water - eeeek...

This was all due to wondering where i was getting water in the bilge after rains then noticed some residual water in this area. I've since put a bead of silicone along the top of the side of the cockpit to hopefully act as a mini dam and not allow the water to run into the cockpit.

I just went through this 2 winters ago on my '94 330 [same boat as '91 310].
I removed the helm & wet bar.
I took the complete helm seat apart, however this was unnecessary as the bolts holding it down where accessible [at least 2 in mid berth, don't remember how many bolts exactly].
The coaming bolster is held in place with T-nuts, I purchased these at McMaster-Carr.
You need to feel for these bolts inside the access panels, a few may need to be cut.
Carefully remove coaming bolster as you will need this as a template.
I used MDO plywood and had a local upholster refinish it.
It came out great, one mistake but I will never say where.
You need to find where the water is coming from.
Mine was from the radar arch and possible plumbing leak.
Re-caulked arch and redid plumbing.
Sorry I did not take pix, I wish I did.

Thanks - do you recall what portions of the ply were waterlogged/rotted? from the arch towards the stern? A week ago, i got into the wall pocket right next to the helm seat to see where my radar wires were - i was surprised that it was only full of dust and noted that it seemed dry as a bone in there with only dust/grit. from the outside, it doesn't look likethere is any damage. Its only when i peeled back the coaming that i saw it.

were you also getting water into your bilge from this area? That is why I've been looking around.

It was rotting from dock water inlet and wash-down spigot to the first access panel inside of wet bar storage area.
I did find some pics from my old phone.
I tried to down load to photo bucket but I got errors.
