Anyone have a new model replacement horn that does not sound like a stepped on frog?

I bought this and replaced my "frog/duck" horn.

It's not going to make anybody crap their pants, but it's a slightly louder and more constant sound.

That frog/duck thing was embarrassing to use; I think I'd rather crash.

I bought this exact horn and it is not loud at all. The OEM horn, as bad as it sounds, is actually very loud and effective over a long distance. I hate the sound though and and I am working on another solution. One issue I have with the OEM horn is everyone looks at you with that dog earred with his head cocked to one side like "what the hell was that because it didn't sound like a horn" look.

Where did you put the switch and horn? Any pics? Any issues with the compressor noise or a separate circuit?

I went the air horn route, the install really wasn't too bad. I did put it on a separate switch, so I still have the sickly horn if I ever need a good laugh.

???? Isn't the purpose of a horn to get exactly that kind of attention?? Emphasis on "attention." Is a horn supposed to sound like the Boston Symphony Orchestra? I think I'm completely confused by this thread.....

Well that's why we are discussing this. IMO the horn should be first purposeful, clear, and understandable. Majestic is a close fourth. I see the advantages of the OEM but even as efficient as that horn I think there there are a few negatives. We are trying to come up with some alternatives. What is your boat running and how do you like it?

Dual Kahlenbergs. They do what horns should do - get the attention of others (and yes that includes duck hunters - how that is relevant I'm not sure???) - so yes, I like them and am pleased.
