I'm going to shrink wrap my Sea Ray this year I live in the northeast where it snows. I was wondering those of you that wrap your boats and store them outside. Do you have to push the snow off the cover because of the weight?

The wrap should be supported adquately enough that you should not have to worry about snow load on it. Some times in snow country they will use dark blue shrink wrap that absorbs a lot of heat from the sun and will help the snow melt off faster.

We don't push the snow off of any of our boats that sit outside. As stated above, just make sure you tent it properly. Once the sun comes out, it'll slide off. A 2x4 under the bimini works just fine.

in the past I used a blue tarp over my canvas suported by the poles when we get more than 4 inches of snow we would have to go out and push the snow off, it's amazing to me that that sheet of plastic can support that weight

Yup, no problems.

By the way, don't do the blue tarp over your covers (if you go that way again). One cover, never two.

The only time I move the snow off is a heavy ice and snow mix, the weight sometimes stresses the shrink. I live in the mountains

Remove it carefully from the boat in the spring and you can use it for a few years. Don't shrink it super tight.
the reason for not doubling up it weight and breathability.

Curious, why not shrink wrap over the covers? Assuming the cover does not contact the shrink wrap.

How would you tent the shrink wrap? :smt001

Just wrapped my 205 she's already for the winter. Had lots of fun shrinking the cover and it was a whole lot easier than I thought . I can hardly wait till next year when I get to do it again. Thanks youtube for the how to video

I have never removed snow from the shrink wrap. As long a you have a good support system you should have no issue. One bit of advice for those of you with a colored hull. Make sure the shrink does not extend below the rub rail as it will move in the wind and leave scratches in he colored gelcoat.

what you do, is get your wife or GF to stand at the side of the boat. then you thump the shrink wrap and watch as the snow slides down onto her. fun times.

Somehow I think only one person is going to be laughing. And, I'm also thinking that a couch is going to come into play at bedtime...
