The shower head/faucet combo in my heard had the rocker style button that turns the water on/off break. Does anyone know if just the head is replaceable? It didn't look like it came off the hose but I didn't try. If not, do I have to replace the entire unit including the base and control knobs our just the entire hose and head. If I have to replace all of it can I get one from Home Depot that has a single handle on/off for both hot and cold water. Hate the two knob design that has one that is backwards.

There is nothing "special" about the faucets in a boat. They are just the stuff you can buy for your house. That being said, however, Sea Ray in the past has used a lot of Grohe products. Although you can buy a faucet at Lowes, if you want a higher quality faucet that matches the current style/brand on your boat, you'll have to special order it through Lowes (they do that) or go to a high-end plumbing store. Grohe is also sold on line at a couple places....

http://www.groheamerica.com/

If you can find your style in there, you may be able to replace the parts you want (the mixing valve assembly) and not replace everything. The parts are all interchangeable. I have a bunch of Grohe stuff in my house... it comes with a lifetime warranty as well... My 480DB has the Euro II family (or something like that)....

The stuff stocked on the shelf at Lowes will work but, in my opinion, it tends to look like cheese if the styles don't match the rest of the boat... Plus, the plumbing stuff stocked by Lowes tends to be middle-of-the-road to lower-end products...

My 2 cents.

This is where Sea Ray get's many of their faucets - which - I personally find to be junk. I already replaced the faucet in the head with a Shurflo - I found on ebay. Much better faucet.

I'm going to look into those. One look at the design of mine and how it broke tells me its complete junk and had a very limited life span.

Sorry, don't have pictures but it had a black rocker style switch for on/off at the head. Under it, on one side it had a plunger that was pushed in and out to control water flow. In the middle were two tiny prongs made of some weak metal that served as the pivot point for the rocker (think the middle of a teeter toter). Nothing, no spring or anything on the other end. Of course, the constant back and forth sheared those prongs off at the base so it no longer "rocks". How does something so weak pass basic engineering tests?!?

After brief search, I'm liking this one:

Has the shower head/faucet combo and a one level control for hot and cold. Seemed to always be a pain to get the two just right on my old one. Thoughts?

Before you buy look at Lowe's/Home Depot, or any plumbing store. They might have something you'll like more, that will be better built.

Funny- I read your initial post and looked online to see what I could find; picked it out and was going to post it and saw you had picked the same one- nice looking faucet/shower!

Good price, too. The only drawback is that it does not appear to have the shutoff on the head, which might play a role in your decision. Even with 100 gals of water, we need to conserve over the weekend if on the hook. Normally showering consists of wetting down- then turning off the water while soaping up, then rinsing. The shutoff on the head makes this easy; not having it means just leaving the water running (not a good thing if you're concerned about water usage), or having to shut it off at the faucet and then finding the right temp again every time you do it...

Most plumbing fixtures aboard the boat can be replaced with household fixtures as stated above. I've replaced all three on mine with brushed stainless Moen, and still have to pick out a nice shower diverter. The exception is your case- a combination sink faucet, and shower head. You won't find them in a home supply store.

Ah, good catch re the shutoff! I had looked over that. Gotta have that for precisely the reasons you mentioned. The search goes on . . .

Funny, I recently had to replace the faucet/shower head. For some reason, after cleaning it the last time, it did not work properly.

It only cost about $30 directly from my local SR dealer.

You may want to double check this, but the SR Part Number is 1853913 (pg 51 of the parts manual). The cost was $24.93.

The shower head typically just twists off the end so you can use literally everything but the shower head. I just replaced the original off white shower head with the off white one linked below and it works fine. The On/Off switch is much better than the chrome slide on the ones Sea Ray had installed.

My original was replaced by the dealer under warranty. Oddly enough...I didn't even think it was broken. I picked up the boat after some other service issue and WhaLah! New faucet

Thanks! I just called up the local dealer and ordered. That's the one. That ought to hold me over for now rather than replacing the whole unit.

Installed the new shower head. Thanks for the note that it can be bought separate. Problem solved.

Skolbe,

Do you have the picture of your new setup? I wander how it fits at the sink and on the hanger clip when you place it for taking the shower.

Thanks,
Alex.

I can take a picture - it doesn't fit in the holder like the factory one does, but we don't use the holder anyway. We just hold the faucet when showering.

That is the exact shower head I replaced mine with and I bought it from an RV dealer. I also replaced my faucet with one from an RV store.

I realize this is a way old thread, but looking to see if anyone purchased this shower unit - and could tell me how the shower stream is on it? Is it aerated? Or just a lame trickle like the stock shower heads on our boats.
