Decided to replace the Pump and Float Switch in the Shower/AC Sump. Was able to get the exact Rule Pump and a newer version Float Switch. After a few self inflicted issues
ie. clipping all 4 wires by accident instead of 1 at a time resulting in blowing the breaker which I have now found in the engine compartment. Wired it and lifted the float and all worked. Success! Put in the hair filter and cover so all is good. Fired up AC's Friday AM on my way to work so we had a cool boat. Arrived at the beach at 6PM and took a quick shower and noticed no noise from sump nor a light on the panel. Water in the bilge. Break out the Shop Vac. New float was 3/4" longer than old and barely hit the filter not allowing it to come on. Going to do some notching on the filter and reinstall this weekend.

As an idea for the filter instead of notching it what about heating it up and re-contouring it in that area as to keep it one piece? I don't know if your plan to notch it meant you were going to remove a section of it. Seems like that would cut down its effectiveness?
