Should you buy a gun or not?

Just curious and no disrespect intended, does your area of the country have a lot of shootings? Or, is gun violence significantly lower because folks know that it does not pay to mess with others because it can get them killed?
hardly ever have any gun violence, you kick a door down here and go in your getting shot. if anyone gets shot it is generally a drug deal gone bad. actually most of the time they people involved are from Detroit or Cleveland.

I have owned guns all my life, and have had CC for 15 years. Looks like I have 7 handguns, Ammo and several long guns and shotguns. I rarely carry concealed, but always have a pistol in the pickup with me. My wife has a pistol and CC permit as well. Practice practice practice, always be aware of your surroundings.
Oh yea, From my cold dead hands!

Nice starter kit. ;)
I like the lever action. I have a mod 94, pre 64 30-30 that looks just like it.

To quote an old saying, "Better to have a gun and not need it, than to need a gun and not have it."
Good question though. I believe you'll find it's not something that can actually be answered with any certainty. Cities have more firearms in the hands of good people than the country, but look at the violence that still takes place. Granted that MSM won't show the facts on TV, but I'm sure you could get the information from LE sources or even by contacting the NRA or a like organization. They have mounds of data supporting the 2A.

Yes. I am on the border of Minneapolis /St Paul in one of the supposed nicest neighborhoods in St Paul. Unfortunately the trash finds its way into our neighborhood. The shootings/violence have doubled since the riots and we are on pace for a record year in the Twin Cities. We definitely have a record year in car jackings.

Today’s plan is to rip out the carpeting and check out restoring the hardwood floors underneath. The reason I tell you this is because we are prepping the house to be sold so we don’t have to deal with the ineptness of the Twin Cities dumbass government anymore. Crime is rampant, taxes are ridiculous, schools are woke, and there’s no end in site of idiocy in this once beautiful area.

I'm sorry you've reached that point. We left a beautiful town in Mass because the lib lunacy got so out of control. There was never a proposed Prop 2 1/2 override that didn't pass. I couldn't stomach it any longer. It's sad when the area you live in is over run by scum that want to destroy your country. At least in our town the criminals were too afraid of guns to steal from you in the same manner as in your city.

I haven't read this whole thread yet but I have (and have had) quite a few handguns and several rifles/shotguns. I don't advocate that everyone should own a gun but do advocate that if you want to and have no incriminating reason not to then you should have that right. I don't agree with the new bill they are trying to pass that anyone over 18 can carry concealed without a CCW. I also feel that anyone that want s CCW should be required to attend a firearms safety course.

Yes it is sad. I moved here 28 years ago to start a life. Drive 30 minutes and you’re in the woods for hunting or on a lake for fishing. The city (Minneapolis) was vibrant in the 90’s with awesome bars and restaurants. Perfect for when I was in my 20’s.

There is also no castle doctrine here. Although you can carry with a permit, it’s your duty to retreat. So if rioters for instance, decide to kick down my front door, it’s my duty to run out the back.

F’ this place. I’m so done with it. The libtards won, they can have it.

They haven't won! You're just falling back to regroup...

Geez, unreal they can come in on you and you can't shoot them. I get the hell out of there also.

Right there with you

Never happen, absolutely never happen. It would be a very big crime scene and I would be taken away in cuff's, "they" would have many small holes in them.

@OllieC so sorry you feel that way about where you live. But I understand all too well. I use to live in a very nice area on Long Island NY, one mile from my boat, 7 figure homes or close to it in my area. But a bordering town that was all to close to a not so nice area that MS13 decided to move in to made life miserable there. Home invasions started to rise and to the point where my next door neighbor's home was held at gun point on a Christmas eve. Five or so hours later everyone was physically fine. They bought a new house out of state and sold there house in weeks.

Where I live now, if you have a "No Trespassing - Keep Out" sign posted it is legal to protect yourself. Couldn't have it any other way. I sleep with one under the bed and also around the house. I also have a SS 12ga on the boat and a two piece .22 as well. Although where I live now I doubt I need any of this, but better safe then sorry.

I often ponder the justification for some folks to hoard guns and ammo in huge numbers.
The man purse I am proud to carry!

Looks just like mine, A Glock 19 and a Bersa Firestorm 380 ACP. I need to buy a couple of Mags for the Bersa but have several for the Glock including two LE high Capacity. I used to have a Taurus Judge 45/410 revolver that was the great equalizer. Totally illegal to own in CA and the guy I got it from started getting looked at due to a change in occupation and asked to buy it back from me so he could get it out of CA. I wanted to keep it but the douche threatened to report it as stolen if I did. Probably best not to have to use it anyway, there would be some pretty difficult questioning when the the authorities have to mop up the aftermath. Instead I grab this when I here a bump in the night. A Mossberg 500 in a Bull Pup frame with 8 shell magazine kept loaded with 00 Buck shot. After nearly close lining myself in a door jam with the Mossberg one night I decided I needed something more compact. Still need to mount a light to it. Its a ton of fun to light up the front yard with scattering coyotes when they get too close to the house.

I've never heard of "Law Enforcement High Capacity". Must be a California thing?

The XDm Elite has 22+1 9mm straight from the manufacturer.

I think any pistol magazines holding more than 9 rounds are considered high capacity and only Law enforcement are permitted to have them is my understanding anyway. I'm not an expert by any means and the rules change regularly here.

I just look for the sticker on the box saying "not legal in CA"...and know it's good to add to the collection LOL.

Then you don't support the second amendment. Who are you to tell anyone what they have to do when it comes to firearms? My sons can teach a course on firearm safety. They shouldn't have to do anything more than carry how they want under the 2A. They don't need a reason to do it, they don't need permission to do it.

Justification? Because I want to. That's the only justification I need. It falls under Freedom. What does me having ammo hurt? How is it anyone's business?

Ammo is more important than the gun itself. Look at what is happening with AK ammo from Russia and Eastern Europe. I’m super glad I stocked up on 7.62x39
