Wife wants a 2000-2002 460 Dancer and was whining about it at the Club. Guy walks up to me and asks what we want for our 370. I told him if I put it up I would be asking $99,500. He says that's nice but what buys it? Told him 90...... Should I do it? P.S. I know nothing about Cummins Diesels, and it would be like starting all over again.

I did it

I went from a '97 370DA to an '03 460DA, best move that I ever made.
I liked the 370 alot and made many a trip with it on the east coast but the 460 has been even better.
Now, if I could find a clean 550DA I'd be in high cotton

If yours is sold do it,,,,, look at your leisure. Most can't move for fear of owing more boats than they can keep afloat. So,,,,, if yours is sold you should sell it

Every man has his price and if someone is willing to pay yours, you should take it. If not, send him my way; I've got my eye on the 420.

You should do it only if 460 DA is available as a username. Otherwise it is horrible karma. Like having Camaro68 as a name and driving a ZR1.

I would say go for it! The 460 is a great boat. Try to get one with a hard top and lift. 2002 to try and stay away from the cored hull issue. PM me if you want details on this boat.

BTW, get ready to LOVE diesels! Fantastic boat!

First step is to get your boat sold. If you can get 90k for a 1998 370 I would take it and run.

Cored Hull issue?
Don't know about this topic...

There is a beautiful 2004 550DA for sale out here...

Do it, they are right selling is more than half the battle. I went from 97 370 to 01 460 and love it. My 370 was bristol with new power and loaded, sold for 75k. Run with 90. im not sure about the cored hull issue, I know my 01 is not.

You will definitely appreciate the size and diesels on Lake Michigan. The boat will just charge through that annoying 2' - 3' chop. Do it!

If you are looking at 2000-2002 I would suggest to first try and get a hardtop, but a hydraulic lift only if you prefer that, and go for the popular Cummins package (not that the Cats or Volvos have any issues). The hullside coring changed from balsa to a synthetic core midway through the '01 year. If you get the deal on a balsa core (prior to hull #517 in 2001) model then check it thoroughly for moisture around the engine vents and stanchions. Also check the base of the windshield. Those are the main problem spots for moisture on that boat. Also be prepared to spend money on electronics, depending on your use, if it has not been updated already. Good luck in your search but you generally will get what you pay for.

The 460 is a very logical move from the 370, I feel anything in between is a lateral move instead of an upgrade. Gaining the extra head, private aft cabin, and a cockpit twice the size is incredible. There is a gorgeous one in New Buffalo that I am helping a friend of mine sell. Every option and pristine

Friend of mine in Wisconsin has a 1999 sea ray 460 that may take a trade. Boat is on yachtworld.com

Thanks for all the info. I'm learning as I go here.
I personally don't care for the hardtop on the 460...
I know that might sound crazy but I think it clashes with the bow pulpit.
Looked at a 410 also but she wasnt satisfied with that.
if I'm already going diesel then I guess that the
460 is a logical step up. I should just listen to my wife if I know what's good for me.
