Is the Mercury Extended Warranty worth it?

I have a 2004 200SD with the Mercury 5.0L MPI Bravo III engine I bought last spring and just received the offer to buy the Mercury Extended Warranty. While I usually don't consider extended warranties on cars and other stuff, in this case I'm asking myself whether it's worth it given the cost of marine repairs if they do happen. They have 1-5 year options, and I am considering the 3 year option for $840. Any opinions on whether this would be worth it?

You should absolutely buy the extended warranty. Think of resale...the used boat market is vey competetive, if your boat has a transferable warranty it will go to the top of the list or potential buyers. It will pay for itself.

I think extended warranties are great. Make sure it is a FULL FACTORY warranty and not after market. most after market warranties that I have delt with, will not pay the repair center there full labor rate.
