Howdy everyone -

Is anyone else out there having problems with their Shoreland'r trailer brake lines? Mine was apparently rubbing on the axle and it eventually put a hole in the line that actually runs inside of the axle housing between the two wheels. Has anyone else had this issue happen? Of course, it's not covered under warranty, but I'm writing a letter to Shoreland'r anyway voicing my displeasure.

My trailer is a 2005 model with relatively low miles. The lake is ~30 miles away and we got two to three times a month during the summer. Zero issues until this.

Can happen to any trailer - it's all up to the person that installed the lines. I think the direction you are headed (writing a letter) is probably best. Good idea. Overall, the ShoreLand'r is a high quality trailer and a good company. If you remember, please post back the outcome of your letter. I wouldn't get your hopes up that they'll cover it - it is 5 years old - but I'd still be interested to hear the outcome.

Yeah, that's the idea. I doubt that they will be able to do anything, but I definitely consider it a safety issue that is based in the design/construction phase of the trailer. It is most likely a fluke, but it's still a fluke that caused my brakes to go out and caused me to spend time and/or money on it.

Mine rusted right at the fittings and started leaking, it is dipped in salt water regular and sits about 50 feet away from the water most of the time. My axle is foam filled, or at least the ends are. I just bought line from NAPA and replaced all of them and then bled the brakes, then calipers sticking, rusted, pads worn out, pull calipers out of slides, clean rust and lube, install new pads and good to go again.

Welcome to Club SeaRay, if memory serves you had a picture of truck hooked to trailer with boat of course sitting under what looked like a bridge

All trailers seem to rely on soft steel brake lines vice stainless (yes you can make or get a set of stainless). Most of these soft steel lines rust from the inside out and may look great on the outside. Unfortunately, I have yet to find the "T" connectors in other than brass and soft steel and those seem to go bad faster than the brake lines. I have replaced brake lines with stainless steel and replaced the DOT 3/4 fluid with synthetic which does not/will not/can not attract water like DOT 3/4 does...

So the suggestion is if you intend to keep the trailer, check on stainless lines and or new soft steel lines but change the fluid over to synthetic... its worth the cost... they will last longer, won't rust from the inside...

Good memory!! That was my Tacoma with my brand new boat sitting under the 360 bridge in Austin. It's been almost 5 years, but it's still a great picture!

Here's a slightly new one.

Well, I heard back from Shoreland'r. They were not very simpathetic to my situation, but they did offer to send me a new brake line. I tried to get something else out of them since I have already fixed the brake line, but they wouldn't budge. I had them send me the brake line anyway so that I could claim some kind of small victory.:smt038

And if you didn't try, you would've ended up with nada! :smt001

True. I was hoping for a different outcome, but at least I made my voice heard.

Anyone need a brake line for a trailer?????
