is there anyone out there that would be able to let me know if a 1988 23ft sea ray sundancer has shore power capabilities:smt021

You could probably install shore power on just about any boat if you want to and know what you're doing.

I’m assuming you are asking if it can be added, not does the boat have it and you just don’t know if it has it.

Sure, it can be added.

The next question becomes, why add it?

Well, if you don’t have shore power you don’t have an onboard battery charging system beyond the alternator on the engine. So yeah, again, you can add that and that would be a reason to add shore power.

If you have shore power you could add air conditioning. A built in A/C system is thousands of dollars.

You could add a microwave. Not sure where you would fit it but you could add it.
Same with a electric stove, outlet for a coffee maker, etc.

Now let’s say you add these things. Combined you likely spent over $4,000. The value of the boat with these additions will be higher but not by $4,000, it would go up far less.

So the question becomes is the cost to add shore power and power consuming accessories worth it for your enjoyment?

Even if they are, would you possibly be better off selling this boat and getting one with the features you want already installed?

I see in your boat details you list your boat as a 1988 23 ft Sundancer.
Assume your boat is a 1988 Sea Ray and is 23 feet, your boat is one of the below:

I agree with everything Presentation wrote.

In my case, I like shore power for three reasons;

1) I can leave a Fridge running all weekend with no worries.

2) When I am away. . I have a power source for bilge pumps.

3) If I do something stupid and drain a battery. . I just make sure the boat is plugged in. Also helpful if you suddenly discover a weak battery, and you can't run out immediately for a replacement.

Are you positive the boat is a 1988?

Are you positive its a "Sundancer" or are you calling all Sea Ray's "Sundancers"

This is a 1998 270 Sundancer EDIT: This is a 1988 270 Sundancer
