I am trying to understand everything on my 86' Weekender 300, and I have a question about shore power connections. I have A/C on my boat and there are two shore power receptacles on the port side. In the AC panel there is the stock breaker box with the main, refrig, outlets, hot water, AC charger and air conditioner. Below that is another breaker board with a main and 6 breaker switches, none of which are labeled. Here's where it gets confusing! From what I understand, normally the boat with A/C have two shore power outlets with one of them being for the A/C. However, I only have one shore power cord and when I plug into the forward recep, everything works, including the A/C!!!! However, there is no power to the bottom mystery panel unless I plug into the back outlet. But I can't find anything not working by not providing power to the back receptacle! Anyone ever seen this before, or have any idea what the back receptacle is for or what the mystery breaker panel might be for????? Thanks!! Shaun

Not sure if we have the same setup but i have 2 boards
one has the A.C. power hook up to shore power which runs my Air cond,, fridge, and a few others
My D/C panel runs cabin lights, T.V. .water pump, fridge, and a few others...
i can't run the Air cond, from the D/C panel. i don't have a generator....
Why you have no power to the D/C  thats strange....
thats a battery hook up i'm sure...

Does it have anything to do with a generator?

No, unfortunately there is no generator. Good thought, though!

I have and 88 Weekender. 1 30A shore power inlet on port in front of the arch, A/C and generator. Only 1 panel inside with main breaker and indiviual breakers to control all of the A/C circuits. At the bottom of this panel is the generator transfer switch, generator remote start and hour meter. All my DC circuits are controled from the helm

If the front one operates eveything as it should then you should be good. Maybe a PO installed an additional inlet, for 240v maybe) and then changed his mind. Are they both 30A 120v?

Stu

Yes, they are both 120/30. I am happy that everything works with the one, I just like to know what everything does! I still don't know what the second added panel is for! I hate mystery's...

Prior owner must have added another panel and 30 amp inlet. Far as I know the boat was equipped with a single 30A service.

Easy enough to see what, if anything, it powers. Pull the panel and see if anything is connected to the breakers, then trace the wires.

Thanks, I will do that. Thanks again for all your help!!

My 86 300DB is set up this same way. I also have two 30amp plugs on the port side and still don't know why. There is a "y" adaptersyou can get, which is pretty spendy. I haven't bought one yet as I am still trying to figure out why there are 2 plugs on the side...

You were exactly right! I traced all the wires down last night and found that the second plug gos to the second added board. Te original owner added some additional outlets and instead of overloading the existing board, he added another. Thanks for all of your help and suggestion!
