Shock Trauma trip

Cool. I work in an office full of Marines. I teach at the EOD school here at Eglin Air Force Base. Funny thing, it's a Navy run school on an Air Force base, but it's a joint service school so all four branches are here. Good to see some current active duty military representing here. I just got out of the Army in Sep 07. Anyways, glad to hear you're ok.

Nice! EOD, blowing up crap! My kind of business!

Hell yeah, someone has to take care of all the crap that those pesky insurgents keep burying on the roadside.

If you're into reading at all...check out the book "We Were One" by Patrick Odonnell. It's outstanding! He went into combat with the Marines in Iraq. There are some really great "blowing crap up" stories! Combat Engineers were tearing it up!

Right on, I crossed the berm with the Marine Corp combat engineers. Spent the first two weeks of the war push split between the Marines and the 3rd Inf Div. Intersting times to say the least.

I understand your reluctance MX of not wanting to get involved in a frivilous lawsuit. Spilling hot coffee on yourself and suing a resturant because they serve hot coffee to a moron is frivilous. You could have unseen medical problems later on in life due to this. Your family could have unforseen emotional and psychological trauma which could surface in various forms from seeing their loved one almost lose his life. Sure, you've been in a hostile fire zone, so this mishap is nothing right? Has your family been in a hostile fire zone? Of course not! This event was tragic for them to witness you in an injured state. Maybe there is no basis for a lawsuit but you at least owe it to them to consult with an attorney on this matter. I wish you good luck and I am proud your efforts in the service of our country.

MXer,

Only a "Devil Dog" would chase someone down after a near fatal incident, and give him a piece of his mind!

Glad you're OK.

And Thank you for your service to our country!

You must be at Camp Pendalton (sp)? or Mira-mar?

The comment regarding this injury possibly coming back to haunt you in a year or two is, very possible.. Not sure with U.S. litigation law but in Canada we have 2 yrs to make a "Statement of Claim". For your own protection I would see a laywer and make sure the insurance company is "put on notice" with regards to the accident (your lawyer will explain) You may not have any issues now, but you could very well later in a year or 18 months from now. If you do, who will pay for physio, medication, accupunture etc. Protect yourself! I am not a laywer, but my line of work make me familiar with litigation. Good luck.
