Looking for advise on trucking a 390 sundancer with hardtop from Florida to Connecticut. One trucker told me that the hardtop has to come off another said leave it on. Both are using lowboy trailers. Anybody have any experience with shipping this model? I don't want to take the top off because I think it will be difficult to get it back on (correctly).

I understand that minimum clearances of 16 feet in rural areas and 14 feet in urban areas is guaranteed on interstate highways.

You can remove antennas, radar, and navigation lights from the hardtop to gain clearance.

Positively leave the hardtop on when you have it shipped. I had my 2004 390 shipped from Ohio to Maryland last spring with the hardtop on it. We had the props and rudders taken off of the boat to get it to sit low in the trailer. We also took the radar and TV antenna off of the hardtop.

I had my 390 shipped with the hard top on. We did take the props off. If he has a real low boy trailer you will not have any problems.

I had my 420 hardtop shipped from Missouri to Texas with the hardtop on. Stripped all the electronics off the top and removed the props to let it ride super low and it was good to go.

I had my 2006 380 DA shipped from the Georgian Bay in Ontario, Canada to coastal Rhode Island with the hard top on. Like others, props were off and electronics were off on a low boy trailer.

The shipper had the entire route mapped and asked me to check out a low railroad bridge. I called a local boat shipper who told me the exact height, which was higher than the posted height and had no problems.

I'd say definitely ship with the hard top on.

We shipped a 2004 390DA from Maryland to New Brunswick, Canada with the Hardtop on, no problem for a reputable boat hauler.
Had to remove props and electronics from hardtop.

Props off, top cleaned off, measured 14'-2".
Ground clearance at RR grade crossings were more of a problem than low bridges.
