Hi all!

We are having a hydraulic swim platform made for our new to us 460DA, Florida Bow Thrusters is doing it. We will need to ship ot from Florida to Oregon. Any shipping company recommendations?

Thank you!

Does Florida Bow Thursters not ship their products regularly? Have they not offered to take care of shipping (@ your expense) for you? If you arrange for shipping you'll own that platform once it hits the shipping dock at Florida Bow Thrusters. Make sure you insure the heck out it...

That said have you called FedEx or UPS? Both have LTL freight services. They won't be the cheapest but they may be the most reliable.

Good question. What kind of company doesn't arrange the shipping?

They are not arranging the shipping. I know, I was very surprised!!

Yes, insurance is a definite MUST!

Wow, Fed Ex LTL was astronomical!!! It's 2 very heavy crates. It won't be ready to ship until the end of November, but I'm shopping now.

I'm curious...what was the "astronomical" number?

As I recall, total was over $12,000

Hmm...that sounds extreme.

For reference I paid <$1000 in total freight for my new platform to ship from Arizona to Michigan earlier this year. Of course your platform will be a bit heavier and bigger but I wouldn't have expected more than $2,500 even with the hydraulic system. $12k is crazy. I'd drive down and get it myself at that point :)

We thought about that, but I've broken my ankle and can't help drive. We are thinking snow over the passes too. Renting a truck one way plus expenses we figure doesn't save enough to offset the time. My husband is good for 300-400 miles /day closer to 300, back issues...

Our crates are 800lbs and 500lbs. Who did you use?

If you have a fastenall store nearby, try them. Have used for large classic car parts in the past.
Good luck

My platform was 900lbs all packaged up. The freight was arranged by the manufacturer. Old Dominion was the carrier...

We've shopped Old Dominion and Oak Harbor Freight. I'll look into fastenall. Thank you!

I hope you've successfully shipped your hydraulic swim platform from Florida to Oregon since your post two years ago.
If you ever need shipping services in the future or if anyone else is in a similar situation, it's worth considering pallet delivery courier services. They have a solid reputation for efficient pallet delivery services, which can be particularly useful for shipping specialized equipment like a hydraulic swim platform.
Over the past two years, I'm sure you've enjoyed your 460 Sea Ray Sundancer with the new platform, creating memorable boating experiences in Oregon's beautiful waters. If you have any more questions or need assistance in the future, feel free to reach out.

Hey! That's an exciting upgrade for your 460DA! ️ For shipping, I'd recommend checking out shipvehicles.com. They have a comprehensive platform with info on various shipping companies, making it easier to find the right fit for your hydraulic swim platform journey from Florida to Oregon.
