A friend of mine is looking at a1995 37DA in Florida and is going to ship it up to New Jersey needs to know the height of boat for shipping. Anyone have any thoughts.

shipping a 370

Friend of mine has a 98 370DA and shipped it from MD to MA. Not sure of the exact height, but he had to take the radar and tv antennas off of the arch and it was fine.

You can go the Sea Ray website archives section and download the owners manual and or parts manual....one of those should have the dimensions you need. But I am pretty sure he will have to remove the arch and all antennas.

I shipped my 89 340DA from Tampa to Baltimore. They had a low boy trailer, no need to remove the arch or even the radar. Get the correct height and talk to the trucking company. Most are able to move anything under 13'8" with no problems on the interstates. You need to do your homework on access from there to home port. My move was painless.

for whatever reason, searay's website does not archive the owner's manual for this boat. they have the larger parts manual, but that doesnt contain the height from bottom of keel to top of arch. you could email them or call them for that info. they usually get back very quickly in my experience...

go here, scroll down about 3/4 of the way anc click on "questions about 35-68' boats."

We shipped mine from Savannah, GA to SML, VA like this OTR on a truck/trailer:

antennas and radar yes, whole arch- no.

look for a different company if they tell you otherwise.

The need to remove the arch depends upon the hauler and the type trailer he uses.

Whatever you do, specify that the boat be shrink wrapped for shipping. You you don't, you will be cleaning diesel soot and road film off the boat and out of every nook and cranny until this time next year.

and if they dont do a good job of shrinkwrapping it will end up beating up the boat from flapping and might even end up on some poor slob's Honda :smt043

Good point FWebster.
We did not shrink wrap mine, but I had no diesel soot except a veeery few specs on the front of the arch, so I must have been lucky. The other thing ... if not shrink wrapped and they haul your boat thru a downpour, not only will you have soot all over from the tow truck, but your instruments may take a dive. I have two 340 next to me that were hauled in the rain and they both have gages with water in them that never came out.
