Does the shift ignition interrupt switch on my 2003 5L MPI Alpha 1 only kill 4 cylinders? I believe the ignition interrupt occurs as the operator is pushing the linkage out of gear as the engaged gears tend to hang on while under load. I might try adjusting the interrupt to occur earlier in the sequence if there is no chance of killing the engine outright. In the past, I've never tried to understand it, just followed the book to the letter. Could try a turn in the correct direction in the interest of smoothing the shift a bit more.
