Shifter broken piece

Hi, I'm new here... just got a 480 Sedan Bridge that delivered yesterday I have 2 questions..


1) When they came down with it from Toronto to Montreal, the port shifter basically broke... Actually, when they were trying to fix it temporally, they noticed that there was another one in a box on the boat that broke exactly at the same place..?? Basically, it broke just above where the transmission cable attached...The mechanic that did the temporary fixed checked the cable and he said it looks fine… We'll replace the shifter box in the next day or so, but anyone has any idea why this would happen?? this is a metal piece in the shifter that broke…




2) Second one, they have burned 2 bow truster fuses... any clue why? I'm incline to think that it might be the truster battery that may be weak and will check on it tomorrow...

I had a couple of low batteries for my thruster when I first got the boat, never blew a fuse. They were too low to even kick the relay over so no load on them. It's funny, a bow thruster was a serious want/need when I was boat shopping and now I try not to even turn it on.

So it may not be that battery then because it has it’s own… I did no have a thruster on any of my previous boats and never felt I needed one… only concern with this one, is having another break in the shifter box losing one engine and having to park it on one with no thruster…Did that with my previous boat 43 LOA, but it was almost half the weight of this one… This one is heavy…

Most shifter controls are made by Morse Controls. Might want to ask them. Could be an adjustment to the cable stop causing to much pressure on the arm that the cable is connected to.

The thruster fuse blows due to high current draw. Maybe the installer installed wiring that is too light. Check the thruster manufacturer specs.
