I'm doing lower cables and was told to do the shift rod bushings and seals as exhaust water could seek thru and into shift cable cavity causing corrosion. My ?? Is has anyone done them and do I pull out the seal from bottom and just tap bushing out? I ordered the kit but was thinking just doing the lower seal but want to be sure how it all comes apart. I'm big in preventative maint

You should be doing a complete transom assembly overhaul at this point. Your boat is 12 years old it needs: gimbal bearing, all new bellows, lower shift cable, trim & limit switches, cooling hose and the steering shaft seal. If I missed anything I'm sure it will come up when you buy the parts. I also believe in PM. If you are going to do this yourself you will have to buy some tools. When I had mine done I was and still too chicken to tackle the job so I had it done. Hope this helps, Rob

That's all been done on my boat. Lower cables too but one was giving me issues so I'm doing both of them myself so I know it's done right. Everything else looks good.
