I noticed that the shift lever for the port engine seems loose with a fair amount of play in it when it is in neutral. Is there some way to tighten this or does this indicate a problem?

thanks

Does your boat have DTS or the seperate levers for shift and throttle?

If it is the separate levers for shift and throttle - mine used to be the same. There is a small single allen head grub screw at the base of the lever (cant remember the exact size of allen key) - you have to get close to see it. It screws through the outer lever body into a small indent on the shaft. In my case I needed to tighten this all and apply threadlock to all four of them to stop them coming loose every 30 hrs or so.

Loose allen screw as Highland Storm mentioned above. Seems to loosen every year. Threadlock or a dab of nail polish would probably solve the recurrent issue. I've been too lazy to do that!
